I wonder if any "druggies" walked away from crimes so this guy could keep the drugs & cash? Assuming, of course that the "suspect" is guilty.

An off-duty Texas Department of Public Safety trooper has been charged with possessing methamphetamine.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday announced the arrest of Jimmy Jay Gillman of Cleburne on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. DPS has suspended Gillman pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Yeah I've seen the pictures on the internet. People look very bad in a few short years. No idea why anyone would do this but apparently it's very addicting. When I was stationed at Paris Island we had a SSGT that got hooked on this stuff between platoons and he was charged, transferred and kicked out quickly. Down time between platoons was usually 3 to 7 days. Sometimes you had a Phase 3 Platoon on the bottom deck and a forming mob on the 3rd deck that overlapped a few days. Not a lot of down time so this stuff is very quick and very bad.

The article never said he used the methamphetamine. A drug test could easily be able to determine that.

Maybe his girlfriend? It would be easy to resell and make some "extra" cash. Who knows?

My guess is dealing. Hard to catch meth or crack users with product, just pipes. Most PCS Penalty Group 1 arrests were dealers in my experience.

He actually paid for the camera and got it out of pawn. They still prosecuted him due to the fact he was a leo. He had no business carrying a badge after that

He actually paid for the camera and got it out of pawn. They still prosecuted him due to the fact he was a leo. He had no business carrying a badge after that

At least he had some scruples left.

If you can stay mayor and be an admitted crack smoker, why can't you keep your job with a meth habit?

47 years old and a DPS officer with no future now. I wonder what happened in his life to end up that way.

Here's another link with more information. The story says that the trooper bought 6 grams of methamphetamine. It says the arrest was made after getting a tip that the trooper was using drugs. It also says that inside the home, officers found more drugs and drug paraphernalia. Gillman's girlfriend, a 53-year-old Arlington resident, was taken into custody but was later released.

While it is not a prerequisite, politicians are allowed to be criminals. Cops are not.
