This happened in Cheyenne, Wyoming
Police say a 22-year-old woman was accidentally shot at a Lowe's store when a handgun of another customer fell out of its holster.
KGWN-TV reports that the woman was shot in the arm Thursday afternoon and taken to the hospital.
The customer who had the gun was a 58-year-old woman. Neither woman has been identified.

Things that would be nice to know:
What king of gun.
What kind of holster.
Did the husband of the gun owner know the injured woman.

Two questions always come to mind in situations like this. If the gun hit the floor and discharged, where do people keep getting these guns that clearly aren't designed to be relatively drop-safe? If the gun discharged because someone tried to catch it as it fell, why don't people realize that trying to catch a falling firearm is a serious risk of discharge? For anyone carrying a gun, this is the fifth safety rule that should be drummed in like all the others -- ALWAYS let the gun fall to the ground (NEVER try to catch a falling gun).

I wonder if it was a purse holster and she reaching for her credit card or something like that.
I also agree with Middle Age Russ' post. Same if you drop a knife! Let it fall.

If this was truly nothing more than a ND, I would guess she grabbed for the gun. Very little can be gleaned from such a short "article". We all appreciate the Information Age, but I hate what it has done to "journalism".

I always wonder if the gun was fired first and then dropped on the floor. In the ensuing confusion and turmoil, any possible witnesses could easily be confused about the chronology of such a fast moving scene.
Think about it. Even if you heard the gunshot, by the time you look in that direction, all you see is a gun bouncing around on the floor. Unless a video camera actually captured the exact sequence of the event, I think people lie about this to keep from getting into trouble. The lady could blame the gun and avoid taking personal responsibility. That is the new way of the world.

Great point 03Lightingrocks! This goes back to the age old question of which came first. People are not going to look until they hear the "Bang".

The article stated, "...shot AT a Lowes store..." Maybe it blew out of her holster/purse?

We have had some strong wind the past few days. You may be on to something.

What we've had the past few days is a calm day in Wyoming.

He may be on something, but I am not sure what.

Where did it say the shooter was married? Or heterosexual for that matter?

Now that is funny. I took the post by jmra as humor. I took it that he was kidding around that the lady shot a woman her husband was fooling around with.
