I didn't read about this until today. A regular caller to the Michael Berry radio program called in today. His daughter was killed along with her new boyfriend at her apartment in San Marcos. He had a few years back lost his job, and started power washing for a living. Michael had used him on many occasions to praise the value of work.

A very sad story losing a daughter so young and with her life ahead of her. I think every caller empathized with this grieving father.

When he described the killings he talked about how hard it was for him to imagine the horror her daughter had faced. The ex-boyfriend killed the new boyfriend first and then ordered her to the floor and made her lay face down when he then killed her. He later killed himself by driving his car off of a cliff.

I don't have a daughter, if I did, I guess I would try and teach her to not be afraid and to fight back. Hard to do, but I think I would try.

Many years ago I was dating a gal that had a jilted ex~boyfriend. One night he drove past as I was dropping her off after a night out. He pulled up in the driveway, glaring at us from behind the wheel (enough street light to see his face) . He squealed his wheels backing up and leaving. My date was shaking and crying when she told me he had threatened to kill her if he caught her with another guy.

The next day I bought my first handgun. Gen-1 G17. She's long gone but I still have the Glock.
