"The Howard County Police have confirmed that three people have been killed in a shooting at the Mall in Columbia.

Police said one of the victims was found near a gun and ammunition. That person was not identified. Police said the 911 call came in around 11:15 a.m. The police department is advising people to avoid the area."

Beat me to it.

My guess is another domestic situation. I know the media is chomping at the bit for another mass shooting, though.

Maryland has no provision in its constitution for the right to bear arms.

It is a heavily restricted state regarding guns. But the emphasis has primarily been on handguns, magazine capacity and assault rifles.

It is a may issue CHL state. Maryland is 7th following Hawaii at 6th in the Brady State Scorecard.

The killer in this shooting used a shotgun and had lots of ammunition with him.

Apparently he took his own life.

Now they will be adding shotguns to that emphasis.

There are two ways to look at this. Should we be relieved he didn't use an AK or AR15, or should we be worried the antis will now add shotguns to their list of evil weapons?

Probably the latter. They aren't going to let up.

Since they didn't have an Automatic Rifle to rail about they appear to be zooming in on "a lot of ammunition" to sensationalize the story, which apparently is not sensational enough with only 2 people murdered by means other than an AR.

It will be interesting to know exactly what a "large amount" of shotgun shells are.

I read a story on a Brit news website that said the guy had some sort of homemade explosives on him. Would the mass news media have felt better about the whole thing if he hadn't used the shotgun and just gone in and detonated the bomb he made?

Look closer at this case, and the cause could be a very bad kind of psychotic Rx drug. None is talking about it since it is privileged info, protected by HIPAA.
