One more reason to avoid buying off of Craigslist.

This is why you don't buy or sell on Craig's list.

This is why you don't meet a Craiglister in a WalMart parking lot.

I've only tried it twice, both were unfavorable. Not dangerous, but didn't like the final results.

Other than buying from Craigslist, there are lessons to be learned from this incident.
I can understand that the man was probably angry about getting punched in the face and having his phone stolen.
Chasing the guy into the parking lot and firing shots was probably not the best.

It was at night. He was attempting to recover something that was robbed (robbery, not stolen or burglery right?) from him.
Why was he arrested? ( well I kinda know, but I want to hear it from experts)
Only thing to further add, was that it was an I phone 5, so it could be recovered by other means. But I don't think that's why he was arrested.

You mean one more reason not to engage in private party sales all together?
It was a CL sale in a public place. Sounds reasonable to me. I've bought boats, cars, and a bunch of other items from private parties that I didn't know with cash. How is this any different? (Maybe I'm just an idiot)
Wasn't it NY where the PD fired at someone and hit bystanders? I'm not saying that you shouldn't take your backdrop into consideration, but no one was hurt here, why does the PD get a pass and this guy goes to jail?

we've bought a computer, a quilting machine, a spinning wheel, a motorcycle, I even got my corgi Wryn from CL 5 years ago this week. No problems at all. You just have to be very, very careful, email the person a few times, then talk to them on the phone and don't ever, ever meet alone.

It was a robbery and the robber was escaping with stolen property. He may have been justified. Maybe not, all we know is what the media told us.

I don't think I'm interested in meeting any purchaser of anything at 10:00 PM.
