To make certain "hate speech" is monitored Democratic Sen. Ed Markey is pushing a bill to have a federal agency monitor anything that it suspects may encourage hate crimes. He would have the internet, tv, cell phones, etc. that is all methods of communications monitored for hate speech and would make such a federal crime.

Un-freaking-believable.

(He doesn't tell us what constitute such, but perhaps if the bill passed it would be revealed as time passes much like Obamacare...)

I have no fear this bit of totalitarian thought crime doesn't stand a chance of passing, but I'm appalled such ghastly bills are even considered.

I still find it highly ironic that one of those who warned us most loudly about this kind of thing was George Orwell, a life-long committed socialist. But then again, I guess that's the difference between someone who actually believed that socialism might work, and those who merely use it as a political tool to control others.

Following in the footsteps of the UK Islamic Republic where they just arrested a man running for political office who quoted Winston Churchill. It's just a matter of time before it starts happening here.
