Well this is not a good sign.
I hope the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the United States takes this seriously.

This simply can't be true, after all El Paso is the safest city in the states.

I think it is clear that D.C. Does not give a hoot about anyone in a red state. So what about state resources to fight the mafia? Texas has a certain amount of sovereignty on its own standing. Could the state allocate resources to fighting these cartels.
I know I am hard on LEOs when they screw up in things of life and death. But we need good lawmen. We cannot have that if they are being threatened or coerced by the cartel. So if Washington won't help then as good texans have done before us perhaps we'd will have to see to our own.

The key is to not let fear or greed take over like it has in Mexico. It is in the interest of the police and citizens to stand up against the thugs to make sure they don't get more of a foothold than they already have. They've mastered the art of intimidation.

The "chief law enforcement officer in the United States" is the same guy who was arming those knuckleheads during "Fast & Furious". Does that answer whether or not he will take this seriously?

I didn't say his name, cause I didn't want this to be too overtly political, but yes it is the same person.

Those Brits have no idea of the scale in this country, or just how large Texas is..
Local station KHOU reports that one of the signs reads 'Plata o Plombo' which translates to 'silver or lead', a threat used commonly against police officers effectively warning that if they do not accept the cartel's bribes then they will be shot.
It is about 785 miles to drive from Houston to El Paso. It is about the same distance to drive from the northeast corner of Scotland to the southwest corner of England (
Thurso, Highland, UK to Falmouth, Cornwall, UK).
So KHOU is a "local station".

Maybe its the closest brave enough local station to publish the story. I'll check and see if El Paso stations are mentioning it.
Yes El Paso newspaper is reporting it.

He will make sure they have plenty of firepower.

If that border was within a few miles of Washington DC, things would be a lot different. I have been hearing politicians promise to control our southern border for more years than I care to remember. The cartels are encroaching boldly and all there will be is more talk.

Perhaps, this is one of the reasons for law enforcement upgrading their firepower that some some seen so very worried about...
