3:30 am is not the time to be out with your daughters in a restaurant in SW Houston, near Gessner and the Southwest freeway.
And maybe you just leave in your car.

The best way to defend in this situation is to remove from harms way.

Officers say the fight escalated after a comment was made about one of the daughters
"The use of force against another is not justified...in response to verbal provocation alone"

My take on this is the "suspects" were leaving and the "victim" pulled a gun on them then, the shooting started. The video gives one account, and the print story another. Something smells like an open can of sardines left in the sun.

It sounds like there's a good case for self defense. Nobody has heard the "suspect" tell his side of the story yet, but already several of the news stories say the "suspect" abandoned the encounter and tried to leave. The "victim" followed to continue the fight. That's when the "suspect" pulled a gun out of his vehicle, shot the "victim" and escaped.
