"Hi powered semi automatic rifle" --according to the media

Oh yeah, and "sniper's nest."

And sadly, it seems even the police in Chicago are gun ignorant:
“I’m not sure why they are calling it a sniper’s nest, it was a machine gun, not a rifle,” Officer Mike Sullivan, Chicago Police Department spokesman, told TheBlaze.
At least the media didn't call it a machine gun.

So is "not full auto" and "fake suppressor" a good assumption?

I think that's just a catalog Mac 10 photo used for the article. But the supposed "rifle" was semi-automatic....and I'd guess, no suppressor, since that wasn't claimed and the media would have mentioned it to make it sound even scarier.
