Me and the wife are making the trip do dallas this weekend and would like to shoot. Any outdoor ranges that allow walk-ins.

I guess indoor would work, just prefer someplace I could get my brass back.

There are several ranges in Dallas that do walk-ins and allow you to collect your own brass. What area of Dallas will you be in and we can narrow down teh choices.

We will be coming in either through Rockwall or allen. But I'm willing to drive. Would like to shoot a good amount of steel.

if you are talking pistol, no place I am aware of that has steel to shoot for public. Most are going to be paper targets at best. For Allen area the Bullet Trap in Plano http://www.bullettrapinc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would be your option for indoor range. Outdoor range there is Garland Public Shooting Range http://www.eaglepeakshootingrange.com/gpsr/welcome.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or Top Gun Range north of McKinney http://www.topguntexas.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or Armadillo Range in Lavon (pistol only at this time I believe) http://www.armadilloguns.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Do they allow non-members to shoot there?

Look into "Garland Public Outdoor Shooting Range" (Garland, TX).

Be aware, you cannot shoot FMJ on the rifle range. They only allow JHP. They have both 50/100 yards rifle lanes.

They also have (5) trap shooting areas, and a pistol range.

I suggest calling them to verify what ammo you can shoot depending on what you bring to shoot firearm wise.

It's located along the way between Rockwall to Allen (assuming you take I-30 to George Bush Turnpike to US-75 up into Allen).

Yes.
I was a bit apprehensive when this place first opened, thinking it would be too snooty and expensive. It is a really nice range, expensive yes (be advised they charge by the hour), but the lanes are wider, well lit, ventilated, air conditioned, and the staff is pretty accommodating. Plus, there is a little cafe open to non-members (I'm not a member). If you can get there during the week days, they are half price between 9-3.

Another local range I've liked was Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville. They are a little cheaper, but have a similar range, just not the fancy stuff everywhere that bargain hunters like me would buy anyways.
