After discovering that a local father who brings his two girls to elementary school every morning conceal carries a handgun, a concerned parent posted a sign in her yard with the permit holder’s picture in protest.

The permit holder, Matthew Halleck, is a past president of the school’s PTSA and former candidate for the Rochester, Minnesota, school board. The sign that bears his picture beside a caption that reads, “This man carries a loaded gun around your children every day.”

That nasty lunatic would be begging Halleck to use his weapon if she were being victimized...and if I was Halleck, I would say, nope, not gonna do it. I know how upsetting guns are for you. But dont worry, I will be a responsible neighbor & testify as a witness for you! "rlol"

That I can think of, there might be one or two sets of parents at my daughter's school that know about my CHL. However, I think if something like this were to happen to me I would own it. Yes, I do and am not ashamed of it either. I have been carrying every time you've seen me when it was not a school event and would protect your daughter harm from just the same as I would mine. Many of the parents know I have guns and also know that my daughter also shoots and many have asked about me taking them and their daughters to the range and even a couple of their teachers. Things might be different when she gets to high school, but for now, I don't think it would be a problem.

I wonder how this woman found about this guy's carrying? Maybe that sort of information is public information in Minnesota?

Although I (probably) wouldn't do it...

I'd be tempted to post an adjacent sign saying, "Dear Criminals, the family at 123 Anywhere street (with a picture of their house) is not protected by the Second Amendment (that's firearms, to you low-information-voters)."

I'll take down my sign, when they take down theirs. "rlol"

Need a "Like" button for this!!!

I'm curious how she found out. I'd be tempted to do the same thing in terms of a sign "outing" them...

The Principal of my kid school knows that I do carry. My son outed me when he bubbled about my gun saying my dad has a pistol, etc.
No further issues other than I got a call from the school resource Police Officer. :bigear:

Our school does not have a resource officer. Do many elementary schools? Anyway, about have a dozen parents are LEOs and there is usually one or two picking up their kid(s) armed and in uniform. I've stood right next to and chatted with them waiting for the kids to come out, all the while armed myself. Based on the folks I know at this school, I'd say our CHL percentage and those actually carrying when dropping off or picking kids up might be close to or at least 10%.

Yes, almost all our elementary schools have RO. However, they might not be all the time on the premises. At drop off, pick, special events and on call

What did he want?

And what did you tell your son? :bigear:

First, I got a call from the principal mentioning that I do have a pistol and my son "may" have mentioned: "My dad has a pistol and will bring it to school to protect me", or something like that or he may have mentioned "guns" at school. Once he had asked me why I do have guns and carry a pistol. I explained it is to protect me, him and our family. The principal mentioned that teachers were assigned to observe me if they can detect a gun on me or not. None was observable. :smilelol5:

As for the officer, he wanted that I make sure that I do not "print" and concealed is concealed. He did insist that he respects my right to be armed. He did not address my son issue. I was like Ah, Ok! I do a good job of that .

When I got home with my son. I explained that guns are a private matter and should not be discussed with others.
After this incident, no further issues from my son. :thumbs2:

Wonder how the nut knew he carried. Even my 8 year old grandson does not know that I carry. Perhaps when we all need to worry more about ISIL or ISIS threatening our children at our "gun free" schools these nuts will understand why we carry when we bring our kids and in my case grandson to school. Unfortunately I can only carry to the parking lot.

It reminds me of the time my daughter's preschool had police day. A couple of officers talked about their jobs, police cars, etc., and then opened the floor up for questions. One of the newer teachers (transplant from another state) asked him to talk about gun safety. The officer started the talk by asking the question, "Children, how many of your parents have guns?" Pretty much every hand went up.

I smiled, looked over at the teacher and said, "Welcome to Texas."

He should wear the same outfit as in the pic, and pose in front of it for a nice selfie. :patriot:

It said in the video that the "first couple of days of school he had it very visible"
