n a statement, Doctors Without Borders said that the doctor on Thursday morning followed guidelines by reporting his fever immediately to the Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization, which then alerted the city's Health Department.

He went bowling, too. Isn't that what everybody does when they think they might have a disease with a 70% fatality rate?.

You know when we had measles run through our home (which has a significantly lower mortality rate) we stayed inside until such time as no one remained contagious. No one had to tell us to do that either. That is the responsible and neighborly thing to do. As far as I know we were entirely successful at keeping our germs to ourself as I know of no one else in my circle of friends who got it (I think we got it at Busch gardens).
It boggles my mind that medical professionals those who know and understand this disease and the seriousness of it are the ones playing Russian roulet with the public's very lives. Getting on planes, going to bowling alleys, getting on public transit in a very populated city----absolutely unacceptable.

This can be described in a word: "hubris".

Heck, when we have a stomach bug we stay home so as not to share our germs with everyone. How hard is it?

Exactly. Stay home. Get Chinese delivered to your door step (pay by credit card). Get a good book or catch up on Netflix. In this world where anything can be delivered to your doorstep there is NO excuse for exposing others.

Part of this is due to gullibility of people like this doctor (or perhaps arrogance in what he "knows") and a lying government telling people they can't get Ebola from someone on public transportation or by personal contact without an exchange of body fluids, and not acknowledging the fact that a big percentage of those with Ebola never become feverish. The reality is, these "officials" telling people how they can and can't get Ebola are liars because they know full well that transmission is not fully understood and there are many unknowns about the disease. This is without considering the possibility of mutation, the probably of which increases with the increase in the infected population.
