GA: "So you woke up stupid this morning?"

...carjacker Edgar Horn, 61, slipped into the passenger seat, ...

“He told me, ‘You know what this is,’” Fannin said.

That’s when Fannin drew his gun.

“I asked him to get out the car, probably not in those exact words,” Fannin said.
Mr. Fannin then held the carjacker facedown on the pavement at gunpoint.
When the man claimed he wasn’t trying to rob Fannin, Fannin responded with biting sarcasm.

“You were not trying to rob me?” Fannin said to the man on cellphone video of the incident. “Do you just get into random people’s cars?… You thought I was your friend? … So you woke up stupid this morning?”
But MDA says the cops won't be able to tell who is the good guy and who is the bad guy:
When police arrived, you can see Fannin wave them over, and put his gun down. The police officer shakes his hand before putting the suspect in handcuffs.

Note: the guy's car automatically unlocks the doors when he puts it in park. That's not a feature, that's a bug!

This is the truth, I need to work the time in to my schedule to go by the dealership and get this changed. Also if I can get the passenger seat belt alarm turned off. My range bag sets it off, as well as groceries. I am not a fan of most automatic features, I don't like the automatic daytime running lights. Toyota is okay as the switch for the lights has a setting to turn them off, I don't know about other manufacturers. Every vehicle that has normal lights, has daytime running lights you just have to turn them on.

Most vehicles allow this setting to be changed from the dash.

Not on mine, I have to actually take it in. It doesn't have that little key hole where you can turn it on and off.

I use to have a car that did that. I would put it in park and relock it immediately if I wasn't ready to get out.

Most cars let you turn that feature off. Check the owners manual.

The auto unlock feature is tied tio the auto lock feature at 15 mph. In most cars, this can only be set be the dealer.

I'm surprised someone doesn't like DRLs. I can't imagine why it would be an issue, it only makes you safer. Or are you one of those pickup truck guys who drives around in bad weather with only your parking lights on and no one can see you.

I can answer that one. I rode a motorcycle back when they first mandated that our headlight be on at all times. That was supposed to be for our safety... it would make us stand out to other drivers.

Now they put DRLs on cars. Where does that leave the motorcycle rider? The answer is, "lost in a sea of headlights."

I no longer have any patience with those who would tell me what I must do for my own safety.

I have DRL's on my car which can't be turned off if the engine is on and
the parking brake is not set.

Since age 16 I have always driven with my low beam headlights on 100% of the time,
in order to improve my visibility to others. I learned this practice on my high school
graduation road trip from Boston to Miami. Driving old US Highway 301 and other small
roads before Interstate 95 was built, burning headlights on the narrow 2 lanes was definitely safer.

If just ONE bonehead hasn't run out from a stop sign due to seeing my headlights, and a wreck is avoided, it's all worth it.

That being said, I do not like most vehicles' DRL's since they tend to be less bright than
the regular low beam headlights. So I always use the real headlights, not the DRL's.

A notable exception to the "low wattage DRL's" were Saturn automobiles. They had awesomely
bright DRL's, mounted kind of close to the center of the grille.

Does anyone remember the old Cadillacs that had that device on the dashboard which dimmed
the high beams if someone was coming at you?

Oh I remember those. My mother and I were on vacation in Tennessee and going through a tunnel the reflectors in the tunnel were triggering them. Looked like a strobe light.
