Still wondering where the gun came from and a bunch of other things. Pretty weird incident if the article was true.

Not saying it was not bad, but it could of ended worse. Could of been several severely wounded or deceased officers. Scary.

Just so you know. Snopes used to be known as a reliable clearing house for fake stuff. In recent years they have come under a lot of criticism for validating fake stuff.
They point out that officers do some strange things after the shooting. I'll say they did. Did you notice that when the officer re-enters the room and sees a man who just shot himself and no doubt sees a loaded .45 on the floor at the suspects feet, NO ONE SECURES THE WEAPON OR THE SUSPECT. Indeed, he turns his back on a man who is within reach of a weapon and might try to shoot him in the back. Regardless of anything else the officers do, leaving the weapon unsecured and NOT IMMEDIATELY HANDCUFFING THE SUSPECT tells me this thing was made by people who have, indeed, watched too much TV.
Since this has been around and is purported to be authentic, by Snopes, I call nonsense. If you want evidence that things like this do happen, here is a better report (albeit linking to a NY Times story is a mortal sin):
