If I had a rifle that close I'd grab it instead of the handgun too, especially when facing multiple attackers.

I am not sure why the store owner's attorney even made a statement to the reporter.
It seems clear from the video that the store owner's actions were legal and justified.

The purpose for a handgun is to fight your way back to your rifle.
Luckily, both were readily accessible to the store owner.

It seems clear from the video that the store owner's actions were legal and justified.
Because the attorney is paid to do so. He can, pretty much, say anything he wants without hurting his client's case.

The only thing that might have been better would be a shotgun. If a little #1 or 00 flitecontrol goodness had been flying at that door, I doubt either perp would've gotten away.
