Yes, its still valid. You have 30-days to report an address change to the DPS. You'll need to report the address change to RSD via the DPS' CHL page (sounds like you already got that part down), and I believe also to the Drivers License Division so that your D.L. reflects the same address. After you receive your new one, cut your old one in half, shred it, or whatever you normally do with your stuff with personal information.

Yes. Just make sure to file the change of address within 30 days of moving to be legal. Your existing license will be good for the duration of time until the new license arrives OR the original expires, whichever comes first.

When I changed address I got my new CHL in less than 2 weeks.

That would be incorrect, about both having to match. And I'm not talking about moving and failing to update your DL (as why the addresses are different). As long as both contain your current valid address there is no requirement that they match. Meaning, you can have one current valid address on your CHL that does not match your current valid DL address. I know this for a fact as I fit that exactly, and confirmed with both DPS and the AG office that this is correct.

Could you please explain the situation that you are in, with non-matching addresses on your Tx DL & Tx CHL? This may help to clarify your situation from others. I certainly concede that there may be situations where this would make sense, I just can't think of one.

DL records unfortunately are releasable and/or reportable a variety of ways in TX (and probably most states). CHL records aren't and in TX are specifically protected (see the following for a state by state breakdown of where data is protected...or not):

So, for example, anyone in the TX AG's Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) would have the TX AG's office address as their legal address on their DL but are able to use an actual physical address for their CHL if they'd like to ensure that their physical address remains unavailable. Which means both the DL and the CHL would have different but current and legal addresses. Alternately, they could choose to have the same AG office address on the CHL.

But if they use their actual physical address on their CHL, that makes for a convenient way to prove you live in a particular city or county -- especially since the new law requires that the CHL be accepted as identification in lieu of DL. I have no idea whether or not there are other similar situations...but I can envision that there might another one (sort of similar, but different programs).

Some law enforcement agencies have similar programs for their officers to keep physical addresses private.
