News from my neck of the woods: http://seguingazette.com/news/article_f ... 770b9.html
Since that's behind a paywall... This morning near Lake Dunlap about 0500 a homeowner awoke to some noise. The homeowner went to investigate, discovered someone wearing a red head lamp forcing entry through the homeowner's sliding glass back door, and subsequently shot the intruder once in the groin (altho there may have been more shots fired -- hard to tell from article). The cops are quoted as saying, “The gunshots ceased the pending unlawful entry into the homeowner’s home.”
Responding deputies found the wounded but not dead intruder, some gloves on his person, and nearby a red headlamp and a crowbar. The intruder got a ride to San Antonio Military Medical Center, which is probably the numero uno trauma center hereabouts.
His M.O. (except for the getting shot part) matches that of a string of burglaries in that area. There are lot of vacation homes there, and several of them, as well as some full-time residences, have been burgled, often by someone entering a back or sliding glass door. Three of the homes were set afire as well. There is a $10K reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the person(s) responsible, so this homeowner may have won a shooting prize.
