not answering phones

Wife on a very similar timeframe as a lot of others. Submitted 12/2.
Shes called to check last two days but gets an automated message and then phone goes dead.
Anybody in similar? Advice?

I had the same issue. I called at 6:50PM (They stop answering phones at 7PM) and I was able to get through after a 5 minute wait.

It doesn't hurt to keep trying until you get through. One thing I noticed that may help is that you don't have to wait for the automated message to prompt you to press "1," you can press it immediately.

Dec 2 is too early to call, I'd call 1st of Feb if I were you.

Why would you begin calling DPS 30 days after your material was submitted unless there was a known issue or response required?

I was literally going on advice recieved from this forum to start calling after the 30 day mark. So you can answer that better than I can.

30 days is what the state says in the FAQ section (I believe, or it's elsewhere on there) that they'd prefer you wait before calling.
Call in the morning, 7:01 or so is good, when they first open the call center.

Not beatin' up on you, but we hear whining all the time about how long the process takes, folks unhappy that they don't have their plastic in four weeks because their uncle's cousin's friend knew a guy who got his in 30 days. And this Topic title brings it home.
Guess what? The DPS is staffed like any other office. If you bill a company net-60 and start telephoning them after 30 days asking where you're money is, you're taking time-cycles
away from those very same people who would otherwise be processing your payment.
Same with the DPS. Some gripe about the cost of an initial LTC, but how is DPS going to pay for the personnel who have to answer the phones and research inquires from folks who are nowhere
near the 60 days allowed by law unless they can accommodate the cost with the LTC revenue?

please, people. Relax. Unless you've passed the 60-day mark with no response, just have a nice cup of herbal tea and hit the range to ping some steel.
Calling or contacting DPS prior to that 60-day marker is a waste not only of your time, but of the time and expenses of the DPS personnel who are trying to process your application.

So why isn't there a sticky on "the waiting room" telling the correct process to follow.

Shouldn't need to be. The 60-day timeframe is the law; everyone applying for an LTC should have a basic familiarity with the DPS administrative process.

I know 20 people or so on here that submitted documents up to 20 days after I did and got their plastic in hand within 40 to 48 days and I still haven't received mine and my background is clear. That's why you call prior to 60 days. The DPS site also says please allow 30 days before calling; now if the "law" was 60 days and there's no point to call before then why would DPS contradict that?
