The bathroom isn't always the best place to reload a mag

Just wanted to share some info I learned while on a short vacation......humorous but could have been an issue.

While at dinner at a restaurant I took the opportunity to snap a few rounds back into my mag. I don't have a pouch for my back up mag and often keep it in the convenient pocket in my 5.11 shorts. However, sometimes a round or two will snap loose and so I decided to reload a few rounds while taking a seat in the restaurant bathroom. Well, one of those suckers slipped out of my hand and landed next to the porcelain next to me. Luckily, the guy didn't see it and I was able to wait until he left and retrieve it.

Could have been worse if he saw it and reported it or if there was a child in the stall next to me. Humorous now, but it could have been a bad experience. I've ordered up a DeSantis mag pouch upon returning home and plan to use it religiously from now on.

Learn from my mistake and get yourself a mag pouch........

The tidy bowl man could've mistook it for a torpedo and started launching counter measures.

I carry my extra mag in a sandwich bag rolled up and zip-locked and stuffed in my pocket.
It holds the ammo in real good its water and sweat prof also.
Might be a little slower for reloading but I hope any action would be done by the first mag full in the weapon.

One of the rules of firearm use is: Don't point a gun at anything you don't intend to destroy, (more or less). I think we need a new general safety rule: Don't take anything out of your pockets in a restroom stall that you don't intent to flush down the john.
Example: "One or two of us have regrettably lost phones in a place or two (I myself lost a Treo 650 and a Cingular 8125 within the first four months of last year) but our friends across the pond literally flush an astounding 850,000 phones down the crapper each year."
I read this on the internet last week. In England they loose 850,000 cell phones a year down the john. Good thing they aren't allowed to have guns. Eh, what?

AgeRanger, you had it bass akwards. The bathroom is a good place to READ a mag, not reload one.
