School Field Trip

I just was asked by a parent if he could OC as a sponsor on his child's 2nd grade field trip. Our premises is posted 30.06 and 30.07. Does that notice continue to an off site school function with small children present? If need be, we can give verbal notice.

I would think a school field trip would qualify as a school sponsored event. I would advise him not to carry at all if he is actually involved with the event itself.

One of the many reasons ALL of these ridiculous off-limits places must be removed in the 2017 Legislative session...

I would bet large amounts of money that you'd never make it on the bus before one of the other parents had already called the cops. This is assuming that the school is providing transportation. I agree with LucasMcCain. I'm not sure how a person could claim it wasn't a school sponsored event. Did the parents have to sign anything allowing for their kid to go off site?
I would be prepared with the 46.03 in case they want to know why.

Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED.

Then why ask a second time? Not saying it couldn't happen but it would seem to be in the wrong order.

Does the OP represent a school or private business?

If a person is "on his child's 2nd grade field trip", they cannot carry a weapon unless they are a LEO or other exempted person.
If any person shows up at a 30.06/30.07 posted location and enters while carrying a gun, they are committing a crime, (misdemeanor in the case of 30.06) regardless of whether they had permission to be carrying their weapon by the group traveling to the posted location.
Period.
End of discussion.
Unless they want to go to jail.

Unless the group travelling to that location has rented out the entire space and is effectively in control of the location. So, not "Period".

The consensus around here has generally been that if he is going as a sponsor of a school event it is off limits to him no matter where they go. It is a different issue if a school event is held somewhere else that the school does not control (like a non amusement park zoo) and an LTC holder is at the same place.

Just before I hit "submit" I thought.... "Sure as heck someone is gonna find an exception. "
Didn't take long...

All this no carry in the schools really is getting to me i mean if we carry into a place that has a bunch of kids elsewhere and all is fine , what is the difference at a school or school event ? To me not one thing , i would love to see everyone carry at my daughters school .
I just don't see the big issue with someone who has their LTC to not be able to carry in or around the school , i just hope that if trump gets in he does what he is saying get ride of all the gun free zones but i am not sure if that will include schools or not .
It is so ironic that all the places you really need to carry you cant because of these dang sings , i know i have asked before but has anyone been out to arizona and saw if they have any type of sings ? I have not scene any in ark , CO , OK , New Mex , tenn just to name a few of the place i have been and have not seen any.

If you are referring to the 30.06 and 30.07 signs, no other state will have them because no other state is using our statutes. What you will find in other states are gun buster signs. Which can be much smaller and much harder to see.
(of the ones you listed) States where "gun buster signs" are enforecable or effective notice: NM, AR, TN
Sates where gunbuster signs can be ignored: OK, CO
