Good Midsize Carry

I recently received my license a couple weeks ago and have carried IWB a few times. I'm carrying a Ruger 9E, which is the only pistol I have atm, and it is comfortable in the holster I have but it's a little on the big side. It is 7.5" L and 5.5" H. I've shot my friends M&P Shield a few times and I can shoot it accurately but my pinky hangs off the mag a little bit even with the extended mag. Even though I can shoot this accurately I don't really feel comfortable with a finger partially hanging off. What recommendations do you have for something smaller than a 9E but bigger than an M&P shield?

Because it is comfortable for me to have my little finger tucked under the grip, I like the Glock 26,27.

I can't disagree with this, if you want to go a little larger.

Not a big fan of Glocks but I plan on lookin at a few before I decide. I'll keep them in mind.

A Commander size 1911 might be a good alternative to you.

then you must be a sig fan, take a look at P320C. Or if you want to stay with ruger, SR9C will be your gun of choice. again, you can thank me later...

I also second the glock 19 and 26. I have both and carry both. Some people may say glocks are ugly and blocky that statement may be true to some but you cannot deny the reliability, ease of break down, and durability of one. They don't have the weight of a 1911 and carry twice the rounds.

G19/G26 for 9mm
G23/G27 for .40
I'd say G30 for .45 but I've not shot a Glock in .45 cal yet.

You could also try the Springfield XD series. I like the grip angle much better than the glock.

Just the other day, I read the FBI and a bunch of other alphabet agencies are going with the Glock in 9mm. They are getting them with night sights, 6 mags per gun, spare parts and some other stuff. They will probably get the gamut of models. Cost may be a factor but they have been carrying Glocks in .40 for awhile and they must be satisfied with them.

Meh.... Me neither. I carry Sig Sauer p320 compact. Perfect size. Just as reliable as a Glock an more than accurate enough.

Since you're already carrying a Ruger 9E, take a look at the Ruger SR9c. Larger mags would be compatible and the compact version is one of my favorite double stack carry pistols.
