Help a brother out......

I'm trying to find a specific thread, but I can't remember who posted the post I'm looking for. It was a thread about annoying telemarketers. The forum member in question had some kind of automated phone answering service for his home-based business, in which telemarketers would end up having a "discussion" with a recording of a elderly British gentleman who is supposedly the business owner, and who is entering senility. He provided a link to a recording of an actual conversation between the device and someone who was trying to sell his business a service he didn't need, and it was hilarious.
Does anybody remember that one?

Try this service:
https://www.nomorobo.com/
It works for VOIP phones and cell phones. It is free for VOIP phones. There is a monthly charge for cell phones. I use it for my home VOIP phone. It works well.
You have to have service that they support. I have AT&T. I used to have Comcast. Nomorobo supports both.
You must configure your VOIP phone to ring on a second number, which nonorobo provides. Incoming telemarketer calls to your phone ring once and then nomorobo picks it up. It does not even register as a missed call on the phone. If I have the TV on, I can see the incoming number flash on the screen for the duration of the first ring.
I used to come home every day to an answering machine full of messages from telemarketers. Now it is rare that I have one message on the answering machine.

Sorry, my forum search chops apparently are not good enough to find that thread. It was an entertaining exercise though, lots of stuff on annoying telemarketers.
There was a bunch of stuff on the interwebs with recordings of people pranking telemarketers. One comedian had a whole series of them.

Those are both good suggestions, but they aren't the thread I'm looking for. In the one I want, the forum member had his phone system set up to transfer the incoming call to the hilarious recording of the old british gent, whose dialog is spaced so as to provide time for the telemarketer to interact with the recording. It was REALLY funny. bblhd672, your link is very similar to what I remember.

Ya gotta stay on until about the 6:35 marker when "Lenny the Recording" is interrupted by a brace of ducks evidently walking into the room, and Lenny has to ask the telemarketer to hold a while. After all, herding ducks gently out of one's house ain't no easy thing.

He has over a hundred of those recordings posted. In one of them, "Lenny" ends up getting four different operators on the line, and the
call lasts over one hour.
No; I didn't listen to that one. But can you imagine the telemarketing firm finally figuring out they've wasted a full hour and four staff members' time talking to an eccentric, duck-owning old Brit whose third-eldest, Larissa, doesn't approve of him buying things over the phone...and who is actually nothing but a recording?

That is a great idea!
Several years ago, I was at home recovering from shoulder surgery, when a telemarketer called. If I remember correctly, they were selling vinyl siding or some other home improvement product. Either due to pain medication, or boredom, I answered their questions and let them complete their speil.
When they were done and got to the point where they wanted payment, I said "that sounds great! I will have to check with my bankruptcy attorney, to see if I can use my credit card for large purchases. Can I get your number and call you right back? "
There was a silence followed by some pauses, while they obviously consulted with someone else before they said they would get back with me.
I can't remember the last telemarketer call I have had.
