That's right. I got to shoot every IDPA match last year for free and for that pleasure, the club bought me a brand new Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm! Is this a great country, or what?

At the end of each year, the PSC-IDPA club has an appreciation dinner for the SOs and match staff and has a drawing for a free gun. I got extra lucky this year, but I would do it just for the fun anyway.

If you want a piece of this action, just make sure you're a qualified safety officer (SO) or enrolled in an upcoming course to become one and then sign up to SO a match at PSC. It's great fun. In addition to the financial benefits, you also get to meet every shooter at the match, see lots of interesting guns and generally have a great time.

You'll love the M&P; I honestly think it's the best plastic striker gun out there.

Since you paid so little for it, you'll want to send it to Dan Burwell and get his famous trigger job. Once I manage to get a new job, mine will go there, and probably get the media blasting as well.

If I could find regular style replacement night sights, i'll get those, too.

Congrats GH on a job well done with the IDPA matches and the gun! You deserve it. I agree with Nitrogen on the trigger job.....you have no excuse! See you in a couple of weekends.

I am armed with very little experience....but I would say after playing with Steve's guns post trigger job.....yours should already be in the mail! It is an amazing difference.

Send it right away! It is a lot more fun to shoot.

A contrary comment -- you might want to fire it a few times at least to make sure there is no inadvertent problem with it that you would want fixed under warranty. I have heard great things about the new M&Ps, but there's always a possibility of a boo-boo getting thru. Don't know if S&W would cover a problem under warranty as readily if someone else has been working on it. Or if the did cover it, you might find it back to factory specs upon return, and lose the $$ you paid for the triggerwork.

This is probably just a nit, but me, I would fire it enough to make sure it is sound before investing any bucks in it.
