Hi everyone. with my pending move to austin, i thought i would say hi to everyone and tell you that you will have an enthusiastic new member (me) coming from Chicago - the city that has failed to do good things with great resources. i have my illinois CCL and am also an illinois CCL instructor. wanted to say Hi and Cheers!!

Welcome to the Forum. You may find some business as an IL Instructor here as Texas is recognized by IL as a "substantially similar" state, and you do not have to take the IL class in IL. A few of us here have received non-resident IL CCLs.

This a great forum, very civil, and a good resource for all the ins & outs of Texas gun laws.

i sure did find your post!! thanks for the lead and link. i am really excited about the move, but uprooting one's life is a bit daunting as well. i look forward to more here and in the real world where the sun seems to be smiling more often than it does in chicago :D

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the great State of Texas. Just a word of warning, Austin, while the State Capitol, does seem to be filled with a lot of left wing liberals. When you get a chance, travel around the State, take in its history, and say hello to everyone you meet. You will find some of the best people here, and don't be surprised, if total strangers, wave at you, and shake your hand.

OP... If you ever decide to hold an IL CCL class here in TX, I'd like to know about it...
Hopefully it'll be nearby..

I moved to Texas from Illinois (near St. Louis for 20 years) two years ago. Much more liberty and freedom here, at least for now. We have to keep the weirdos in Austin from turning Texas into another socialist third world hole.

I grew up in Southern Illinois but haven't lived there since Jr. High before the DOD moved our family overseas. I'm going West of Chicago next month to visit family who moved there last year. Going to have to figure out how to navigate the CC laws there.

Austin = The San Francisco of Texas.

Unless, you like living surrounded by leftists, anti-gun, anti self defense, and the traffic is dreadful.

On the plus side...nah, there isn't one.

To be fair, all large cities even in Texas are crammed to the gills/overwhelmed with dope smoking leftists.

Find a rural location to live (if that is you have a choice, perhaps you don't...) and you'll be good to go.
