Will the threads match, or will the barrel or frame have to be rethreaded?

Andy, I totally get the "just because I can" reason but is there some other reason for doing this?AndyC wrote: Wed Jun 27, 2018 6:07 pm Couger (Colt barrel on a Ruger frame) which is something I've wanted for a few decades now.
To be updated as things progress; I'm in zero hurry.

Keeping it .357 Magnum, or going .357 Bain & Davis as per the write-up in Guns & Ammo magazine in the early 1970's?AndyC wrote: Wed Jun 27, 2018 6:07 pm Snagged a brand-new 4" Colt Python barrel (new old stock from the Colt factory sold at auction); this will eventually go towards building a Couger (Colt barrel on a Ruger frame) which is something I've wanted for a few decades now..
I'm just guessing here, but I wonder if the barrel could be sleeved with a sleeve that was threaded inside and out, then pinned into the frame.AndyC wrote: Wed Jun 27, 2018 7:31 pm I'm no expert on the specifics but my understanding is that the barrel threads have to be welded up, machined down and re-threaded.
Why? You don't trust an attorney playing amateur design engineer/gunsmith?AndyC wrote: Thu Jun 28, 2018 10:53 pm I reckon I'm safer handing this over to a pro who's done this before.
