There are several places, especially dove hunting, where you can go and pay by the day. Most will advertise in local papers, or on the interweb. I am going to a place near Stephenville, that charges $75 a day, or $200 for the season. You will need a hunting license, I always get the Super Combo, $68, that allows you to hunt deer, turkey, and dove, it also allows you to fish freshwater or saltwater. I enjoy dove hunting, because it is probably the most economical, of all of them. I am not the best shot when hunting dove, but I have fun.Grundy1133 wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 2:54 pm I've always wanted to go hunting. growing up my dad's hunting/fishing days were behind him and i didnt have many friends as a teen and even now, I don't have a lot of friends who hunt so I've never been given the opportunity to. I have a shotgun. i have leaf camo. I just don't know how to go about doing it. I know with fishing you go to wal mart or wherever and buy a fishing license. then you go find a lake/pond/river and go fishing. with hunting I imagine its not that easy. you go get a hunting license and i dont think you can just find a random field and hop the fence and start hunting. lol. I imagine you have to know someone who has land that you can hunt on and what not. Its a shame too. 31 years old and never been hunting. always wanted to tho.

You may have the same issue I do, I'm right handed, but left eye dominant. I have an eye patch I put over my left eye when shooting long guns, and it has helped immensely. I still miss a lot of birds, but I blame it on them seeing the pellets coming, and dodging, out of the way!!bblhd672 wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 3:48 pm I never actually shot a dove. Shot AT quite a few though when I was a teenager. Finally decided shooting at flying objects that small wasn't in my skill set. Few years back spent a couple hours wasting shot shells shooting unsuccessfully at clay disks, confirming what I learned many years before!
Im left handed but right eye dominant... maybe i should skip trying to shoot at moving targets with a long gun... lolJusme wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 3:57 pmYou may have the same issue I do, I'm right handed, but left eye dominant. I'm naturally left handed, right eye dominant. I probably was shooting the shotguns left handed because I didn't really start shooting right handed until the last couple of years when I got back to Texas and started shooting again. Had never determine which eye was dominant, upon discovering it was my right eye I started shooting right handed with both pistol and rifle. The added benefit was that I can shoot pistol as well left handed as I do right now that I have learned the technique to use right eye while shooting left handed.Grundy1133 wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 4:03 pmIm left handed but right eye dominant... maybe i should skip trying to shoot at moving targets with a long gun... lolJusme wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 3:57 pmYou may have the same issue I do, I'm right handed, but left eye dominant. Perhaps some day I'll buy a shotgun and find someone with the patience to teach me to shoot clay pigeons and doves.
Andy is great at teaching skeet shooting. We need to put together another DFW skeet shoot.
