Noise complaint escalated into physical altercation and shooting 8 minutes after police had left the scene to deal with complaint. Ladner, the deceased, was shot in Smith's, the shooter, yard. Looking at the pictures in article I speculate Ladner was getting the better of Smith in a fight but not sure when the gun came into play. Smith and his family haven't made a statement to police yet. They have lawyer-ed up.

He says Smith called in the noise complaint on Ladner
Sure sounds like the deceased had a beef with his neighbor over the police being called. Tragic for both families whose lives are forever changed because two adults could not de-escalate their disagreement.

“Mr. Ladner was contacted by patrol officers regarding it wasn't amplified music or anything like that but a complaint that they were talking too loudly and that type of thing," said Chief Mannix.
Would love to see a tox screen of both the deceased AND the shooter.

It's interesting that the shooter has already been charged with murder. That was a quick investigation considering that the shooter has lawyered up and presumably did not make any incriminating statements. The fact that the shooting happened on the shooters property would seem to indicate that he was not the aggressor, at least not initially. The shooter also seems to have sustained some physical injuries.
Maybe there are other witnesses / evidence that indicate the shooter initiated the physical confrontation here? Because based just on what's in the news report it seems more likely that the guy got upset at his neighbor for calling in the noise complaint and went over there to confront the shooter, who was standing on his own property. Hopefully, we will eventually learn the rest of the story here.
