It was just edible vinegar and cinnamon along with a remote control toy transmitter.

Some interesting company the family keeps.

Perhaps the most unusual visit Ahmed has made has been to Sudan, to meet with radical Islamic dictator Omar al-Bashir.

Al-Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of genocide and war crimes for atrocities linked to the Darfur fighting.

Ahmed's father is a Sudanese immigrant to the United States and a former presidential candidate in Sudan who ran opposing al-Bashir.

One of those "win win" stories. The clock boy and his whole family are leaving Texas and moving to Qatar.
And so many here still think it was a dry run of some sort, a show off or media blitz stunt. In Qatar he would be taken care of himself and his family too. Come back in 20 yrs and the boy will have a PhD in Engineering form USA or UK.
I took apart a lot clocks and other things as a kid and I did not end up with a PhD in engineering. I do not know definitively it wasn't for nefarious reasons nor do I know definitively it was. I don't believe anyone else on here does either. ;-)

Why in the world would anyone want to question why someone from the middle east would want to come to the United States and take flying lessons to learn how to control an air plane once in the air and not be interested in how to take off or land a plane. Should that not have been a red flag?

Them moving to Qatar does not prove his innocents. http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/poli ... .-approach

My anger is directed at the media and the people who continue to insist he was just trying to build a clock.
I read this thread after some details came out. I had the benefit of knowing more than the posters knew when they made early comments. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed at how many people nowadays make a full rush to judgment before any facts are out.
The following are words that I never thought I would utter - I agree with Bill Maher on this subject. :confused5

Here are words I thought I would never say. What does Bill Maher say about this?

They've given Trump free exposure that others would have to pay millions to get.

Where is this about the kid's sister and father. I've suspected more to the story but haven't seen that yet.

A lot more information has come out about this "clock" and I'm starting to think there could well be more to it than a kid making a clock. Why make it in a suitcase? There is some talk that he didn't make it at all; that it was a store-bought clock and he simply removed the cover and put it in a briefcase.

This could be as innocent as most people believed initially, or it could be a practice run for something else. The kid's father makes it even more suspicious.

Chas.
I do not trust nor believe them. Like Chas., I suspect it was a dry run leading ultimately to the mini-muslim's trip to paradise.
As many other recent veterans on this forum can attest, we received recurring training on many subjects. One of those subjects included a presentation called "Anti-Terrorism Level I". Because of that training, it led me to believe that this very likely could have been a probe to test local responses of the school and the police. The intention may be to simply gather information on what would happen in an area perhaps considered "hostile" to terrorist organizations/objectives.
It may be interesting for us regular citizens to take the "Level 1 Anti-Terrorism" course. http://jko.jten.mil/courses/atl1/launch.html

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

It's all about soliciting a response so more racial contention can be created and exploited.

Partially disassembling a clock and putting it in a briefcase where explosives could easily be added to the retrofitted clock/timer device is nothing but race and bigotry baiting and it worked. Obama is not about to miss the opportunity to further the divide.

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

Beiruty, Can you not see where this could be used as a major component of a bomb? How would you react if he already had the explosives in his locker or chemistry class room and then put the two together and detonated it injuring or killing someone? Would you be upset the school officials didn't stop him?

You act as if the kid ate his pop tart into what looked like a bomb. That's not the case. What the kid had was much more realistic looking.

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

Just think of the criticism the school and cops would be subjected to if they saw the device and did nothing and the kid paired it up with an explosive to injure or kill some of the other students. The same people defending the kid today and criticising the school and cops would still be complaining because they did nothing when they discovered what could obviously be used as a timed triggering device for a bomb.

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

I am not convinced his intentions were pure and innocent.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government ... operation/

It appears, the “clock” Mohamed brought to school this week was not the first of his circuit boards to look ominously like an improvised explosive device trigger. In fact, a photograph of one circulated by the Dallas Morning News was virtually indistinguishable from a circuit board used in a commercially available device used to train law enforcement and military personnel regarding how to identify IEDs.
