Re: Where can we find chl case law?
The issue is there is little to no case law on CHL holders because of their adherence to the law. Those who have their CHL revoked do so because of some other incident not related to carrying. The only real CHL case I am aware of is the McDermott case from 2005 where he was convicted on 46.035 duri...

Re: Grapevine Mills Mall
However, anyone who willfully would break the law and carry past a legal sign just for the reason they don't feel like they have to obey it should be arrested and lose their CHL. Absolutely. In my perfect world, we'd eventually get rid of this whole 30.06 nonsense, but I know I'm in the minority on...

Re: But I didn't see it!
Lots of threads lately about 30.06 signs, effective notice, etc. one thing that keeps coming up is a kind of "but I didn't see it" defense. I.E. - A business posts a valid 30.06, but its towards the rear of the inside of the store, on the front of the building away from the entrance, at s...

Re: Obama's Snooping Excludes Mosques
I do wish the suits brought by the ACLU and CAIR against the FBI had been litigated instead of dismissed. The article posted states that, Before mosques were excluded from the otherwise wide domestic spy net the administration has cast, the FBI launched dozens of successful sting operations against...

Re: SB16 Inspecial Session
If I am reading the Texas Constitution correctly, Dewhurst could slide it onto the special session agenda when Perry goes off to smooze with the New Yorkers. Whether either of them has the stones remains to be seen. I think you're right. Sec. 8. CONVENING LEGISLATURE ON EXTRAORDINARY OCCASIONS. (a)...

Re: SB16 Inspecial Session
Here is the body of the email/fax I have sent to the Governor, Lt Governor, and Speaker of the House. The one gun bill out there needing special session consideration that will pass quickly has been refiled as SB16. This bill provides legal redress to all Texas citizens and particularly CHL holders....

Re: Special Session -- 2013
This was the last chance for Perry and Dewhurst in my book. It is time to really get behind Greg Abbott for Governor and Jerry Patterson for Lt. Governor in 2014. You may be surprised to learn that Speaker Straus (R-San Antonio) is "A" rated by NRA-ILA. Rep. Joe Pickett (D-El Paso), Chair...

SB16 Inspecial Session
Folks, while we are grieving the coming failure of Campus Carry, we're missing our last opportunity of this session! SB16, the sign bill will pass if we get behing it and get it added to the special session. Complaints about cities' illegal postings has been running on the Forum since 2005. http://t...

Re: Special Session -- 2013
I just got off the phone with the Governor's office. The lady I spoke with has no knowledge of where the NRA got this information. She was also unaware of any statements Perry has made indicating that gun bills would not be added to the special session. I think I'll wait for something offical befor...

So am I as we have 2 different reads, either of which could be correct.locke_n_load wrote:I'm interested to hear someone with legal experience interpret this... If we keep 30.06 signs and add 30.07 signs, I'm in.

Re: HB 56 filed with text
Thanks for the reply. I'm reading it a little differently in that only this portion of 30.06 is being amended. SECTION 45. Section 30.06(a), Penal Code, is amended to read as follows: (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder: (1) carries a concealed handgun under the authority o...

Re: Special Session -- 2013
I just got this e-mail from the NRA-ILA: "While transportation, pro-life and juvenile justice issues have been added to the call for the current special session, the NRA has been informed that important Second Amendment issues such as campus carry will NOT be included. While Governor Rick Perr...
