Thanks for the responses! A guy from TXCC emailed me back (something SCCC hasn't yet figured out how to do). It seems like a legitimate group for being two months old. A couple of their leaders are former SCCC state and national leaders. Sounds like it is worth trying out.

Looks like SCCC has fallen apart in Texas. They haven't responded to my emails, Facebook messages, etc. Their website hasn't been updated in years. Their Facebook page is dead.
