I recently moved to Iowa from Frisco, TX.
However, in Iowa you must have an Iowa CHL if you live in Iowa - all other CHL from other states are not valid for Iowa residents while they are in the state.
Yep, called them about this too and looked up the statute as well as consulted with my Iowa CHL ...

Re: New Carry
If I'm flying, I make sure to lock up the pistol case in my checked luggage (TSA lock on the luggage, MY locks on the gun case) rather than send it through by itself.
Next time I fly with my handgun I will do this. However, I picked up the handgun in Texas after I already had a full carry-on bag ...

Re: New Carry
I completely agree that the rules are confusing especially when I was told to take my case, unlocked down to the TSA room by the airline rep. The TSA rep said why is this unlocked?
Then, out of the blue she stated that if I had the TSA locks on the case they would never have to cut my locks off to ...

Re: New Carry
You should have a NON-TSA lock on the case itself and the key/combination should stay with you. Have a safe trip!
I'm traveling soon too and was looking into these TSA locks. What's wrong with them? Why would I not want to use them? I may need to reassess what lock I'm going to use...it's going ...

Re: New Carry
That's the plan, the little black locks are combo only - no TSA key.
If they get weird about that I will pull out the lime green ones.
Thanks.

Re: Glock Conversion Barrel
I have the Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for the Glock 23 (along with 5 korean G19 mags).
Very few issues @ 4-500 rounds. The only problem I had was related to my reloads being too weak. Factory ammo of 3 types has never FTF/FTE.
Reloads working fine now too after bumping .5 grain more powder. I ...

New Carry
Had my CHL since earlier this year and carry every day when I am in Dallas.
I have been up in Iowa working remote since April and didn't have the case necessary to check my handgun on the way down.
Took me all of 1 day to end up at Cheaper than Dirt retail store and pick up a M&P 9c. Like the ...

Misdemeanor & Purchase
I have a friend who was just denied on his FBI check to purchase a handgun. He states that his only charge is a public intoxication (Class C Misdemeanor I believe).
I didn't think that this would disqualify him from purchasing a handgun. He did say that his court date is still pending in April. Is ...

Re: DPS Received 2 weeks ago
Plastic in hand.
Feb 7th to March 14th. Not too bad.
Just about normal for the wait time.
Going to pick up some prescriptions tomorrow and guess where the pharmacy is?

Status = Mailed! I sure hope I can receive it by this weekend. I am going to the range and it would be fitting to carry on my way there :)

Re: DPS Received 2 weeks ago
Just moved to manufacturing pending!
I think I will come in just over 30 days as I mailed the packet 2/6. Not bad, I have no complaints at all about how long it took. The only issue I have is that I should have taken care of this long ago!

Re: DPS Received 2 weeks ago
Updated last night to background check under review. Packet received by DPS on the 8th, updated on the 25th. I just KNOW they updated it because my birthday is tomorrow :)
Hopefully I will have the plastic in my hands within 2 weeks!

Re: DPS Received 2 weeks ago
Thanks guys. I normally don't get excited about stuff like this. For some reason I feel like I did when I was a kid waiting for Christmas morning to arrive.
Ordered some accessories to help me wait :)

DPS Received 2 weeks ago
Should I start to worry if DPS has received my package just about 2 weeks ago but no status update on the site? I called them last week and they asked me to get back with them this week if no progress.
Sent via certified mail so I know they received the package.
I wish they would get to working on ...
