5 Russian jets destroyed by cardboard drones. 37 mph 75 mile range. Assembled in field. Comes flat with ikea like instructions.
Future of warfare. Made in Australia.
Heh. Us RC guys have been flying foamboard planes like that for a long time, I have a couple of kits sitting at home right now.

Unfortunately things like this just put our hobby more into the spotlight after almost 100 years of self-policing :???:
I learned to fly RC airplanes while guarding missiles in Germany and recognized this possible use back then. I also recognized how easily they could cross our border carrying packages, with planes like the senior telemaster being reusable if it were done right. And with this capability and that price, they could cross our border carrying non-explosive packages (drugs) that could easily be recovered. At a range of 37 miles from either side of the border, the most dangerous part of smuggling (the border crossing) is erased. And we would have as much trouble stopping them as Russia is the Ukraine's.

Unfortunately, the FAA is out to kill the RC hobby anyway, because of a few idiots who do not self-police and were flying near airports and commercial flights.

Re: War with Russia

I saw the article about Poland being attacked while at work and told my co-worker we were now at war. I showed her the article and she said that Putin was trying to start WW III. I corrected her and said he just did and explained the concept of the NATO treaty and our obligations under it.

And I appear to have severely misjudged Biden's cowardice (or his handlers/decision makers). I found this evening that Biden is saying that Russia did not attack Poland and that they did not fire the missiles. Let me see if I can understand his logic. We have multiple missiles that are of Russian manufacture (no one disputes this). The missiles were fired from somewhere and landed in Poland, killing two people (again this is not disputed). We have only two countries in Europe (Russia and Ukraine) currently firing missiles at each other (with a possible third - Belarus assisting Russia). Russia has previously threatened retaliation against countries that aided Ukraine or hindered Russia in its efforts. Poland borders Belarus and Ukraine and has allowed many Ukrainian refugees to take shelter within its borders. I am not sure if Poland has allowed any of the Russian citizens that fled their homeland instead of being drafted to also take shelter there.

But we have no evidence that Russia fired those missiles, nope no evidence and no reason to think they did. Right, Joe, we believe you.

C-dub wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:36 am I don't get it. Why do we, the US, have any say over whether or not Poland gives any planes to Ukraine? I understand they want to go through Ramstein (sp.), but why not just take them directly to Ukraine? Why doesn't Poland just tell Ukraine to send some pilots over and we'll let them fly the planes back to Ukraine?

I don't get it. It sounds so simple.
Logistically I think there is more than meets the eye. Poland would not just give their fighter jets without some re-supply to their fleet. Then it is who will re-supply them. If it is US, then we would (I assume) have to prep the re-supply aircraft such that sensitive/proprietary technology is removed, as an example.
That’s my best view.
I understood that this was the real crux of the US decision. Poland can give the MiG's to Ukraine without our permission. But they cannot afford to do it on their own and they were asking for us to replace their MiG's with US made fighters.
Do we want to give Poland any of our approved for transfer fighters? And if we do, why not give them directly to Ukraine? After all, should we give our fighters to a country who is clearly willing to give them away to another country later?

And if I were president, there is no question. Russia invaded on Feb 24 and the 82nd Airborne would have dropped in on the on the 25th. We would not be giving any equipment to anyone, just sending our troops in with the equipment to use it. But I have admitted my bias in favor of Ukraine based on ancestry. Well, that and several years spent training to kill Russian soldiers.

About two weeks ago, Putin said that sanctions were an act of war. Does this mean he has just declared war on the US?
