It's an interesting gray area, the dichotomy of being a CHL carrier. You can't act as a "warrior" (police officer, soldier, etc) because that is not your place. It's a tough position to be in, because on one hand, you are responsible for only yourself and your loved ones. On the other hand, I do not think that I could feel right with myself to allow someone I may not know be attacked and/or killed while watching on. Going too far in intervening in such a situation can land you in prison if a jury perceives you to be a "vigilante" of sorts. It seems to me to be a precarious, ambiguous line to walk. The logical step is to err on the side of the former. Living with oneself if something horrible happened that you could have prevented is the possible consequence of such a policy, however.
