Re: PAR (Private Pilot Written) Exam Scheduled

Congrats. But I have to tell you, 2-3 hours a month is not enough to retain training from lesson to lesson. You will spend time relearning doing that. I understand your, but also temper your expectations.

Re: Early mail in vote

If you qualify for mail in voting, you can drop off your ballot personally any time after you receive it to the designated drop-off spot in your county. You don’t have to mail it. Abbott changed some of the rules for November.

Re: Avoid Maryland

Man, just found out today I have to drive to Pennsylvania in next day. Route appears to be through LA, MS, Al, TN, VI, MD, and then in PA. I see this post on front page but post was started in 2014 but quick search states MD has reciprocity with TX (?). Any quick advice on when to lock up gun and a...

Re: Report expired paper tags

Normal paperwork, and perhaps law enforcement, appears to be running a little slow these days. My registration sticker expired in the Spring. I got my inspection, but the tax assessor offices in Harris County are not open for business. Over the phone they told me to mail in proof of insurance, insp...

Re: SA International Airport

Unless there are stupid 07 and 06 signs posted, the terminal is not off limits to law-abiding citizen. Of course once you are past the TSA check point, you will be defenseless. And even if there are 06 and 07 signs posted, they are illegal and hence not regulatory and many still go in armed anyway....

Then you must be in the mountains at an elevation of 6,100 ft.
Closer to 5,000 ;-)
Lemme guess - you're TDY at Creech AFB.

Re: Duty to Provide LTC on Voluntary Identification to LEO?

Because I carry every time I go out of my house I volunteer my LTC whenever I'm asked for ID. Every time the officer says it's not needed. I've been told this as well by a city PD (when he was writing up an accident report for me). He said something like "it's not required anymore", and he may have...

Re: Hearing aid suggestions for my father.

Hearing aids are not a one-size-fits-all solution. They do not work at all like eyeglasses. You would think that it's only necessary to amplify the frequencies where he has loss, but that's only a starting point. Getting a good result begins with a complete hearing test with an audiologist or, at l...

I will add that this is one thing you not try to save money on. With hearing aids you really do get what you pay for. What is quality of life worth?

Freedom of Speech and the rest of the Bill of Rights only applies to the government, not to private entities, including yourself.

Re: Drones

And registration is only required if the drone is over 250 grams. The Mavic mini comes in a 249 grams. But don't you still have to comply with the airspace and altitude rules? And how do you know those if you're flying an unlicensed drone. As a pilot, I'm concerned about ignorant drone flyers causi...
