We Don't Need No Stinkin' 5th Amendment!

Remember the "good ol' days" when we used to say: "Big Brother is Watching." ? Here's just one more example of the fact that he's doing much more than just "watching" now... I just passed on this deal only because I'm an old guy and finally decided that I want to stick with my .45's that I've been shooting for years. But if you're looking for a .40 S&W, then you better jump on this one quick because this is a great deal on a great gun! :thumbs2:

Re: Off The Beaten Path - New London, TX

Joe, you briefly mentioned the explosion at the school there in 1937. That explosion killed 295 students and teachers. It is still the 3rd deadliest disaster in Texas history. The explosion was caused by a leaking natural gas line in the school basement. An electrical spark from a switch set off the...

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident

I have caught bits and pieces of the trial. Mainly reporting on the AM radio. Why did the jury not get to hear the Texas Ranger say she acted reasonably? I haven't seen an explanation why that statement was not in front of the jury. I, too, have only heard bits and pieces. But I did hear that quote...

Re: What were your political leanings at 18 years old?

I honestly don't remember being politically minded at all at 18 years old (too many other distractions, I suppose! ) I do remember giving careful consideration and voting for Ronald Reagan in 1980. I was about 26 years old by then. My dear old dad, God rest his soul, was a yellow dog Democrat,...

Re: The Master Gun Control Plan

Here's a thought that just hit me. I'm no historian, so an honest question here. And I know it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but the answer might be of some interest in relation to the current situation: how did it go when fully auto machine guns and short barrel rifles and shotguns were eff...

Re: The Master Gun Control Plan

As some others have said, that's the way I see it going, too, if the ban somehow were to be passed. That is, few turned in voluntarily, even fewer forcibly confiscated. So, thru non-enforcement, you might get to keep your "illegal" weapon. But you won't be able to use it: if you take it to the range...

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Mineola, TX

Yep, Mineola is a neat little town. Growing, like everything else around this part of the state, but still a neat little town. They have a small AMTRAK train station there. We've taken our kids, and later our grandkids, there to catch the train, then ride it over to Ft. Worth and spend the weekend t...

Re: Ashura festival in Iraq

This practice has been around for thousands and thousands of years, since long before Mohammed came along. Funny thing is, it's as useless now as it was back then. But hey, more power to 'em! 26 And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from mo...
