Re: FBI: Most violent city in each State ranked
These numbers don't seem to jive with the ones from Business Insider, but the Houston Chronicle says that these came directly from FBI statistics for 2016, and the page was last updated October 2017. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/texas/article/The-30-most-dangerous-cities-in-Texas-in-2016...

That and Saguaro cactus. Ugh. A place down the road just painted the side of their building: "Rustic Texas Furniture" surrounded by giant saguaro's. Good grief Charlie Brown! The Texas State Tree! :smilelol5: I do have a mockingbird that's so noisy that I'd like to send him to Arizona, th...

Noooo! Where did that come from? So we can write them and tell them to take 10 seconds to Google the Texas flag before they start printing and selling stuff?

Re: 2017 numbers
Just from my limited experience over the past 6 months, assisting with my employer's LTC classes, our turn out is much closer to 60-40 with many wives and girlfriends taking the class with their SO. During our last class in March, my wife, daughter, and SIL all took the class. There are also a lot ...

Re: Employers that allow their employees to carry
Not if they have provided 30.06 notice in the employee manual or have given verbal notice. :confused5 Just to make sure I'm remembering the code correctly, if the property owner or someone given authority by the owner, which I assume could be an HR manager, simply tells you "No guns allowed&qu...

Re: 2017 numbers
I sure hope it's closer to 60%-40%. I was just going by ELB's numbers of the licenses issued in 2017, 72% men 28% women. But I think you're right. It was heavily male in the first years, and I doubt many of those will let their license expire. They'll keep it until they aren't around to renew it any...

Re: What are the gaps in your collection?
There are a lot of guns on my "wish list" but, for what I consider "needed guns" are a 12 gauge semi auto, with both a short "tactical" barrel and a full length for hunting. A semi auto in 308, a revolver in 357, and a pistol caliber carbine in 9 mm. I would like to ou...

Re: 2017 numbers
So overall, one in 16.5-ish adults in Texas have an LTC. Not too bad... Could be better, though. I really wish more women would get licensed and carry. I looked at some numbers about a year ago and IIRC they were down under 20% all through 2010 or later, but there's still much room for improvement....

Re: What does your EDC setup look like?
We’re probably the only two that carries a .40 here. Been carrying glock 27 since 06. I've had friends tell me the .40 is a caliber designed in search of a need. But didn't it come about years ago when the FBI was looking for a new standard for the HRT? As pistol calibers go, seems like it's about ...

April 8 2018 Only: CMC AR Triggers at Primary Arms
Not something I'd planned to buy or have the extra money just sitting around for, but I may have to do it. Primary Arms (HQ in South Houston and one of my favorite companies to do business with) has Lantac designed CMC Triggers manufactured AR-15/AR-10 single stage trigger groups on sale today only....

Re: Why a 53-Year-Old Big-City Lawyer Who Has Never Shot a Gun Joined the NRA
Thank you, Mr. Kantrow. The fact is that the NRA is an organization the promotes responsible gun ownership and which, to the best of my knowledge has never produced a mass shooter. NRA members have guns for personal protection and/or recreation. The NRA has always supported vigorous prosecution of a...

Re: I've created a monster...and I'm sorta proud
The 20ga will feel like a softer shooter to you then. At least, assuming the new 500 weighs about the same as the 12ga you're used to. If your wife is new to shotguns or recoil sensitive I'd think it would be a good idea to buy low recoil target loads. I think all the major manufacturers make low re...

Re: Online access for renewals
I renewed a year ago and it didn't take 60 days. It was over 4 weeks but I think less than 6. I'd have to go back and check, but call it about 5 weeks. YMMV of course.
