Re: Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

I just yesterday received the "permission letter" from the District Commander in Ft. Worth. It lists coverage for 25 lakes in the Ft. Worth district. Coincidently, Lake Texoma is not one of them. However, Lake Texoma IS listed on the letter I received last month from the Tulsa District Com...

Re: Anyone Seen a 3005 Sign?

I noticed some changes to signage at the Lewisville Walmart. The blue TABC sign is gone. To the left of the sliding glass door was a pair of signs that did not have 1" letters. The one in Spanish was totally blocked by a trash can. The one on the right read as follows: NOTICE It is unlawful for...

Re: Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

"Care to share a redacted copy?"

Nah, not much of a techie - and don't believe appropriate. My Sept. 2 post explains how simple it was to get the real thing.

Re: Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

I received a 2-page "permission letter" today from Tulsa District Commander. Pretty quick turn-around. :-) Still waiting to see what happens out of Ft. Worth office.

Re: Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

Prior questions: "Do they require a particular form? Or did you just draft a letter? Care to share the text of your letter? Would be interested to see how your request plays out." No particular form that I am aware of. I REALLY did it the old fashioned way; single page, hand written (print...

Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

In checking in for the first time in a long time at texasguntalk, I came across a thread that will likely be of great interest to many here. The following quote summarizes: "Keep in mind that due to a Federal Court case of Nesbitt v USACE 2018, that the USACE lost and the federal court found cu...

Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots

Asst. Chief Janson Hester was the first main speaker at the afternoon class I attended on the afternoon of Aug. 24. He spoke for 10 or 15 minutes - including a lot about NOT getting into HB1927 - then opened things up for questions. So, I inquired to see if they were considering allowing the use of ...

Re: what is your preferred zero distance

I like what the man has to say and show about 7 yards and in. I prefer a 100 yard zero with 556 and '06. That still keeps anything within 200 yards plus or minus 2 or 3 inches. At 300 yards, it's time to drop down to the first mil dot. Bullet path don't change a bit with a red dot and vast majority ...

Re: 2021 - back to Austin

AF - I am also doing the 1:00 class. Might catch up with ya there. Yep, when daughter lived in Austin we sometimes did a "western" drop down. A pretty drive. This change made me consider doing an overnighter, but I already have a little class scheduled for the evening of the 23rd. I will p...

Re: 2021 - back to Georgetown?

Got e-mail this morning from RSD notifying that at least my Aug. 24p.m. re-up school has been moved from Florence to Austin due to "water source failure". New location at Norris Conference Centers does not sound good with 'Important Note' of "Be prepared for traffic delays on I-35 nor...

Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots

I think we should all bring this issue to DPS' attention at upcoming renewal sessions, which I do on the afternoon of Aug. 24. Continued no-gos on lasers could be understandable as even the green ones are virtually worthless in the daylight. FWIW, I put a semi-pricey red dot on a "training"...

My SIL in Commiefornia recently researched them and settled on a mid size Liberty. This was a couple of months ago, but they had a 4 month lead time on delivery.

Glocker - You must be new around here. ;-) Heck, it's just 3 hours instead of 8. And every 2 years, we do renew online only.
