Re: Russian scholar predicts breakup of U.S.! Hah!

There was a guy back in the 20s (I think) that wrote about the US converting to socialism and the Russians changing to capilalism.

Re: Take this test

On #30, is it "government spending" that's being increased. Less tax + more spending = more debt

On #33, the words "per person" throws me a curve.

Re: Take this test

28 out of 33 - Two questions I have trouble with. 30) Which of the following fiscal policy combinations would a government most likely follow to stimulate economic activity when the economy is in a severe recession? A. increasing both taxes and spending B. increasing taxes and decreasing spending C....

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

Sorry if my post read that way. The body of the Constitution takes the collective view and that is why the 2nd Amendment was needed. It does not make any changes to the body of the document, but it does add the part about bearing arms being an individual right.

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

. . . By reading the entire Constitution, with the Amendment, the entire meaning of the 2nd Amendment can be seen... I invite you to reinvent the wheel and do it for yourself, or you could just read the well reasoned treatises on the subject and probably reach the opposite conclusion to that you pr...

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

Here's the reasoning that I take with the 2nd Amendment. 1) What is the purpose of an amendment? - An amendment changes something that has been previously agreed upon. 2) What is in the body of the Constitution that our fore-fathers tried to alter by adding the 2nd Amendment (remember, it was passed...

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

Reasoned debate will win the day, not childish namecalling and fiery rhetoric "In this there is good news and bad news for gun owners. First the good news: The federal government, your elected officials, never have and are not now conspiring to take our guns. No such legislation has ever been ...

Re: Newbie questions (about to buy my first gun)

Ask them to show you the best way to handle the gun you're interested in holding. There's no crime in being new to firearms. Let them know this is your first gun if haven't already. Have them field-strip the weapon. Find out the recommended cleaning method, where to add lube, etc. A good shop will t...

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

Years ago, I tried to make my voice heard to Joe Biden. I wrote his office almost daily. He was a strong supporter of the first so-called "Assault Weapon Ban." Since he was an elected official, I thought, that he could be reasoned with by facts and figures. Leaving aside the personal feeli...

Re: The NRA.....lets talk!

The core belief with the NRA is the 2nd Amendment, and with few exceptions, that is what binds us together. Without their ever vigilant watch over that core belief, we would not have our guns now. Our rights would have been stripped away long ago. They stand rock-solid on NO COMPROMISE with the word...

Re: Question on shipping

If you are shipping to an FFL, you can verify their license on the ATF website. Sent an Izzy to Florida awhile back. Deal seemed a little too good to me (full asking price + shipping), but all the paperwork checked out and the money cleared, so off she went via UPS. It was going to be oversized, so ...
