Re: Special Session???
From what I can tell, there is little in Obamacare that actually reduces the cost of providing healthcare except to reduce reimbursements. Instead, costs will necessarily rise dramatically, and new taxation will damage the economy. Leave out the Medicare reduction nonsense for a moment - Obamacare ...

Re: Renassance Festival
I believe the OP is referring to the one in Plantersville. I went last weekend, didn't notice any signs but I wasn't looking for them as I'm still am waiting for some news on my application.
Just got back from the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville. There is not an 'official' 30.06 sign, but ...

Re: John Carter (The rep, not the guy on Mars) tonight
You know, those books were all very similar - manly hero gets transported by questionable means to a lost/remote world, where he battles incredible odds and strange beasts to win the beautiful girl..... I couldn't get enough of them. I made it through maybe one or two of the Tarzan books, but went ...

It's been years since I ran across anybody who'd read that much ERB. I geeked out a little more over the Pellucidar books, myself.John Carter (The rep, not the guy on Mars) tonight

Re: How will our CHL's fair if this happens?
I'd perhaps be more forgiving if Obama was actually lying. (He wasn't.)
This gets to two of the things that left me confused about the speech.
First - the number of uninsured Obama quoted has gone from 47 million to 30 million. We know from the Census bureau that the 47 million did include ...

Hey, Rhett,
You'll get used to it quickly. I've gone from not owning a handgun to carrying pretty much everyplace I go within about eight months, and at this point, I'm just not worried about it anymore. I can look in the mirror and tell where the gun is, but no one else has seemed to notice. I ...

Glad you all liked it.
I've already forwarded it to a half dozen people in the office, and it's starting to go viral here. Excellent posting, thanks!

So was I. I ran across that link on Drudge earlier today and your post reminded me of it. I wish I could claim credit for thinking of it without Mr. Drudge's help!pdubyoo wrote:I think I was probably too young then to really care too much about politics that much.

I don't remember there being any concern with Reagan, Bush or Clinton, from either side of the aisle, that there would be an attempt to use the forum to advance political agendas

What's your pledge?
Truly disturbing, especially close to the end:

My pledge is to do everything within my power to hold back the rising tide of socialism coming from Washington. Somehow I don't think that's what Barack had in mind.

Ted's name came up twice at a town hall meeting hosted by Kevin Brady that I attended last night. An early question had to do with the Dems wanting to put Kennedy's name on the health care bill. The person asking the question said something about "he's gone now to someplace none of us want to follow ...

Her: No you're not!
Me: Yes I am!
Her: No you're not!
Me: No I'm not!
Her: Yes you are! And that's my final word!
Me: Yes, dear.
