Re: UN says water more deadly than guns

This is slightly off the topic of contaminants in water... One of the most staunch anti-gun liberals I've met, who was an avid swimmer, whose child was on a swim team, and who was very proud of his backyard swimming pool didn't like it when I told him more children die from drowning than handling fi...

Re: Healthcare Passes

Here's a nice little tidbit for everyone to chew on this morning. One provision of Obamacare relates to a 35% tax credit to small businesses offering insurance to their employees. This was the provision to which Obama was referring when he said businesses could see a 3,000% decrease in employee hea...

Re: Daily Carry Question and a little Humor

Before getting my CHL, for years it was all I had for defense and it still feels wrong if I don't have it with me, kind of like leaving your wallet at home or your gun. There have been plenty of times I've needed it for various tasks that just come up.

Edit: Just noticed the OP's date of 17 April, though the website states it's 19 April.
BIt of confusion there with several marches going on. From what I can tell the national march on DC is the 19th. The state march in Austin is the 17th.

Re: Mexico just fell apart?

CDC still has everyone on standby. What I just heard is that the cartels are shutting down towns driving up and down the streets and massacring residents. I got clarification on this, the Mexican government is [was?] shutting down towns because the cartels are getting much more violent. I found this...

Re: Mexico just fell apart?

What I just heard is that the cartels are shutting down towns driving up and down the streets and massacring residents. I really hope this is not true. So far I've found only this article: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/23/clinton-leads-entourage-mexico-drug-fight/" onclick="windo...

Mexico just fell apart?

I haven't found anything in the news on this yet, but a friend of mine who works crime and trauma scene cleanup has been contacted by the CDC about preparing for Mexican refugees in the DFW area, so I assume this will be statewide at the least, perhaps across several states. I don't know very much r...

Re: Healthcare Passes

If I didnt have insurance through my work, or need it for my wife. I would rather pay the fine than the insurance premiums. Currently my fine would be around $1500 while I currently pay $9500 a year in premiums. I do fervently hope that our State Legislature and our Governor address this issue quic...

Chuck Norris did a roundhouse kick so fast that his foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and killed Amelia Earhart.

Re: Hey Dallas...

From what I've read, Chief Kunkle has actually done a good job managing Dallas PD. He struck me as a guy who really cared about his work and his officers when he cried on TV during a press conference after a Dallas LEO was killed while serving a warrant. I honestly hope they pick someone from within...

I did a change of address a few months ago, the new CHL came in about 12 days, the DL took about 3 weeks.

Re: How are these questions about carrying possible?

My instructor misrepresented some of the facts, I think, about having a CHL. The majority of our time was spent watching videos which, while entertaining, seemed only tangentially related to the topics that should have been covered. I don't recall anything about dispute resolution in the class. Woul...

Re: 51 Rule Question

I undertstand your point re: handog , but what about CHL in 1996? I believe this definition of "breaking the law" is subjective. If I clearly, legally, have a "Defense" at the time I commit an act, like carrying concealed on my person with CHL in 1996... am I "breaking the ...

Re: Dallas Autoshow/Convention Center...30.06?

Ok, went down to the convention center, through the main entrance, up to the ticketing area and secondary entrances, and didn't see any signs. I think you should be good to go. :thumbs2:
