Taxes on Firearms

It seems some communities/politicians are promoting taxing firearms and ammunition to (what seems to me to be) exorbitantly prohibitive levels. In some instances the promoters of these ideas say it's to provide funds for public safety or victims' rights, in other cases it's clearly to make it more d...

Re: thoughts on the future of political parties

I doubt that we'll have more than two STRONG political parties. In a parliamentary system it can work, where parties can group together to form a coalition government. In our system however, such a split would only make two weak parties which would be unable to overcome whichever party did not split...

Re: Citizenship interrogation...

I'm sure you've already adjusted to the language differences, but just in case:

Defense = Why you carry a firearm
Defence = What ranchers put around the pasture to keep the cattle from wandering off.

Re: Best Buy giving oral notice

Antifa gets up on the stage and takes the microphone from Sanders. I don't like them but you have to respect their ability to influence the political cycle. Dale Carnegie wrote the book on "How to Win Friends and Influence People" ANTIFA is obviously influencing people, but I doubt that they win ma...

Re: 300 blackout for subsonic suppressed rounds

I have a Radical Firearms upper in 300 Blackout. I use it for hog hunting with a suppressor, but I don't shoot subsonic loads. It was working pretty well for me for a couple of years, but the last two hogs I shot made it into the brush and weren't recovered. I'm hunting at night with a thermal sight...

Re: NRA Hammered on Fox

I certainly believe that the NRA has some internal issues that must be resolved, but I also believe that it is still the best organization at the national level working to preserve gun rights at this time. I upped my membership last week from Life to Endowment. We need to stand together and not get ...

Re: Are we de facto in more danger from Republicans than Democrats in regard to 2nd Amendment?

I like to think of it more in in the terms of "Lesser of two evils" I get that. But that argument, over the years, has really shown to be a non-solution. Lesser of two evils is still an evil. <SNIP> I understand your thought process, but when you're faced with a choice of two evils, it's still a go...

Re: "The Untold History of the USA"

I've watched part of it. It's interesting, but it does seem to have a liberal bias. For instance, in the segments about WW2 Stone seems to think we should have been more trusting and helpful to the Russians during and after the war.

While Ross Perotv was undoubtedly an honorable person, I will always remember him as the man who, through his third party candidacy, put Bill Clinton into the White House.

Re: Best compact 1911? Or favorite DA/SA carry

Did a fair amount of research a few years ago and decided I wanted a SIG P229. I went to the LGS but decided to check out the used offerings before I pluncked down my money for a new one. Walked away with a SIG PRO SP2022 for about 1/3 the cost of a new P229 and have never regretted that purchase. I...

Re: Suppressor build success

Yeah, I have an original Photon IR scope on another rifle. It's very useful out to about 80-100 yards, more if there's moonlight and the target isn't in shadow. In the early pre-dawn time (about an hour before actual sunup) I can see hogs a half mile distant if they're in the open even though I can'...
