Re: Computer won't recognize new harddrive
You could check to see if there is a BIOS or UEFI update for the PC. Harddrives over 2.2 TB require require supported controllers/firmware/drivers to work on older machines.

Re: WTS Ammo (7.62x54r, .32 Auto, 308, 30-30)
I left off the 32ACP after making the posts title. I have 16 rnds of Olin/Western w/box that I think were manufactured in 1965. If interested, make an offer.

WTS Ammo (7.62x54r, .32 Auto, 308, 30-30) price update
I live in Pasadena TX, and have some ammo I cannot use. Local pickup preferred, but willing to ship if you cover all shipping costs.
I looked online for equivalent prices, so if anything seems out of line, feel free to make an offer.

troglodyte,
Did you get your slide milled to fit the sight? If so, who did you use? I have a XDm I want to get a RDS on, and I am looking for a place to get the work done.

If you are looking for a place to shoot, you can become a member of Bayou Rifles. The have a 1000 yard range. It's south of highway 6 on Almeda Rd/FM 521.

Re: Computer networking help needed
Charles,
I would not suggest using the Net44 addresses with a VPN solution. They are not necessary, and will only add complexity in administering and on-boarding new VPN connections.

Re: Alternative to static IP address?
Another option might be to setup a VPN, additional hardware maybe required if your existing gear doesn't support it. The problem with that is you will be introducing additional latency into the system.
That would require a computer at the repeater site and that would be problematic due to ...

Re: Alternative to static IP address?
Charles,
I am a bit of a noob still on HAM radio, but I am an IT professional. I remember reading that HAM radio had a dedicated IPv4 address block. I looked it up, and 44.0.0.0/9 is dedicated to HAM radio, and it is controlled by AMPRnet. Will you be using Allstar to link the repeaters? If so it ...

As far as certs go, it will depend on where you go to work, and what you will be doing.
For starting off, they can be helpful to show basic knowledge with certs like A+, Net+, MCP, and CCNA. Longer term, it may be needed by your company if they are a service provider. Many service providers need ...

Re: How can I confirm who owns property (private vs publicly owned)
I'm not an expert on property codes for tax purposes but thought XV is just a property that doesn't fit in other exempt categories. Could be church, non-profits, charities, and such?
I looked it up, and I was incorrect in my statement. You are correct, XV is exempt properties for multiple ...

Re: How can I confirm who owns property (private vs publicly owned)
If you look at the class code for the property, it will tell you if the property is government or not. ‘XV’ is ‘other exempt(government)’. Alley Theater property is classified as XV. Probably another of those hybrid public/private ventures like Discovery Green park.

Re: TX VOTER ID LAW
Without an ID I think you’ll be given a provisional ballot.
When I moved into Dallas county in 2006 and tried to get registered for the 2008 election it took a few attempts and I was not successful until 2009 or 2010. So, even though I had a TX DL and CHL and a passport, all showing my address ...

Re: TX VOTER ID LAW
I think what WTR is saying is that it doesn't matter if a young black male goes to the ballot booth with an elderly Chinese woman's drivers license. Even though he's still clearly committing voter fraud and can easily be prosecuted for it, he won't be in violation of the voter ID law because he ...

Re: TX VOTER ID LAW
When I went to election judge training this year, they did caution us to not use the photo for an exact match. The photos can be over 10 years old. Check sex and see if age is way off. No twenty-something voting as a sixty year old. Other wise the person is trusted that they are presenting THEIR ID ...
