Re: my mother-in-law

Naoko joined her husband Frank this morning in heaven.

I honestly think she was waiting for our son, James. She got to see him last night and then again this morning. Robert took him to the airport, to go to a conference, and when he got back she had passed.

Re: my mother-in-law

it's stunning, you know, how much weight a person can lose and still survive. I thought she wasn't talking before, she is talking less, she's sleeping more, and she's eating less. I think she will be reunited with my father-in-law soon.

Re: my mother-in-law

I realized I haven't updated y'all...

Naoko isn't eating much at all, so she has lost lots of weight. She doesn't talk much and some of what she says doesn't make much sense. She's sleeping probably 23 hours a day.
We have stopped begging her to eat. We try to keep her keep her awake while she eats what she wants, but that's it.

Re: my mother-in-law

this last week has brought some further decline....and then today....
she asked me who I was to her. She knew my name but not who I was. It broke my heart, just shattered me. She really hasn't had that type of memory problem to this point. The Alz had just affected just her short term memory, and physical stuff....but there have been some changes this week ... lots of lost synapses. :frown5:

Re: my mother-in-law

thank you for all of your prayers and notes of support they have truly meant so much more than you can imagine. This week, esp today has been a whirl-wind of nurses, aides, a "social-worker" and a minister. I'm tired. But we're done for the day and now I know who to call for what need.

Re: my mother-in-law

y'all, this page of prayers is a blessing....thank you. It's been a long day, various deliveries and a long nurse visit. I was unprepared when we started this hospice stuff, for how emotionally draining it would be. It's one thing to have the possibility of death in the back of your mind, but by bringing in hospice it's bringing it to the ...front? I don't like it.

And yes, I agree with everyone I hate alz, it's straight from the pit of Satan.

my mother-in-law

most of you know that my mother-in-law has been living with us for almost 2 years now. I'm her care-giver, she's 92, has advanced dementia, Alz, weigh 74 now and that's on an appetite stimulant....
We signed the paperwork for in-home hospice help this afternoon. Lots of emotions, some guilt, some fear, some sadness that it's time, some relief that there will be help.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate y'all's prayers, for me that I accept the help, for Robert...and our family. She is fairly disconnected from it all...the Alz, I guess.
