Re: California Ammo Bill

They (CA gov't) keep trying to regulate criminal behavior with laws. Any thinking person knows that laws won't work, because criminals don't obey them.

It's really so simple that even a young child can understand it, but people who have had following rules ingrained in their behavior simply can't ...

Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09

I'm trying my best to believe that they are being honest with us, but I keep hearing this "in case something happens," and I can't figure out what they think might happen.

If it's a shooting incident, the LEOs will get your CHL info at that time. The Fair people having it won't be much use to the ...

Re: Carrying a gun increases risk of getting shot and killed

Interesting that their initial citation was a 2003 study that has been discredited. Also interesting that they picked such a small sample and restricted it to residents of Philadelphia. I believe john Lott and the FBI have done similar studies and come to the exact opposite conclusion.

I don't know ...

the above is the method i use , and works well . :thumbs2:

i know i've read it before , but can't remember.... why is it bad to "ride it forward"?

It isn't really a problem with an unloaded pistol, but if you're charging it, it may not seat the round properly (failure to go into battery ...

:iagree: I also agree with the poster who suggested complaining to the officer's supervisor.

Not sure taking it up with the supervisor would do any good. The officer who made the "request" was a sergeant. His supervisor, a Lieutenant, was standing behind him surveying the room and nodding as ...

Use the strength of both hands/arms to rack the slide - punch the frame away from you at the same time as you pull back on the slide.
but in the movies the petite little woman can rack the slide back so effortlessly .

As it should be, since its about technique as much as anything ...

Re: Visiting friends' homes

Right after I got my chl, my future son in law and I were moving some furniture which he arrived late to do, and we started discussing me carrying while at his home. Now my daughter lives there with him and I figure being engaged and all it is her home as well and she also has some say as to the ...

Re: Police compromising your concealment

I think the whole situation is totally outrageous.

- No prior notice was given.
- CHL holders would be "out'ed" in front of friends and neighbors
- Was this procedure previously approved at the board or HOA meeting?

In any event, the outting of CHL holders is reprehensible.

Call me annoyed. [not ...

Hitting anything with a Mosin is purely a matter of luck. The real point is to blind & deafen your target, possibly stunning them as well, so that you can run up & shoot them with something actually effective! :biggrinjester:

Re: Beating Death

In my experience, boys tend to start out very aggressive and it just gets worse if we as parents don't put a stop it. The sooner it is stopped, the more likely the boy will grow up to be a responsible citizen. A huge part of parenting a boy child is civilizing him.

That particular attitude ...
