SB 17 Amendments

#1

Post by Srnewby »

We all know that there will be a number of amendments proposed to SB 17 once debate begins tomorrow. I know that on a federal level, amendments appear in the Congressional Record as soon as they are filed. Is the same process followed on amendments to Texas Senate bills? Said another way, when and where will we be able to view all the amendments proposed to SB 17. I'm still trying to understand the process on a state level. Thanks for any info/insight any of you can provide.

Unless they've changed the way they do things, a PDF of each amendment introduced will be posted on the legislature's website at some point after the debate ends. Here is an example from the 2013 campus carry bill: http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLook ... Bill=HB972" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I seem to recall it taking a couple of hours in most cases, but I might be misremembering that.

There is an amendment search on TLO. I've never used it but it may come in handy after tomorrow.

I believe the amendments will also be mentioned in the Senate Journal. I don't know how detailed it will be though. Maybe a lot, maybe nothing. But the Journal's always run 3-5 days behind the actual proceeding date. :???: I check this one daily when something interesting is happening(eg. SB17, etc)
