I think with right scope on it, I can hunt elk in Colorado without actually leaving Dallas.

I just saw the previews for John Carter at the movie theater last night, and adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Martian Chronicles. The preview shows John Carter in a gladiator arena, taking on some kind of giant martian animal.........with a sword. He could have sure used one of these rifles.CC Italian wrote:Possible uses? Shooting the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. The huge monster in Return of the Jedi. Maybe a blue whale coming up to the surface. Oh wait, having fun shooting down large trees and buildings. Sure is fun to watch though!

Ha! That argument is a slippery slope that never ends and is not the argument we want to see here. Heck, I can bring down a white tail with a hi velocity .22 if I pop him in the brain pan and he's not over 50 yards away so why would we need any other caliber?RECIT wrote:My Dad sent this link to me over email this past week. We have them big guns because we can!!

Could be a pretty spectacular anti-armor weapon with the right kind of projectile. I have to wonder what kind of effective range it has.....

With a bullet that heavy I would guess not very far with the drop involved.bilgerat57 wrote:Could be a pretty spectacular anti-armor weapon with the right kind of projectile. I have to wonder what kind of effective range it has.....
