Umm, there's your problem. BWW is not cheap, their portions are small, and their food sucks. Everytime I go there I walk out $10 poorer and still hungry.

:iagree: ...I thought they were a bit expensive and the wings I got there seem kind of scrawny...like they came from an Ethiopian chicken.

GrillKing wrote:I don't worry about gunbuster signs, "No Guns" and the like, but I agree with Jim on "close to compliant". I hear a lot of argument about "it's not compliant because it is white letters on glass". I think you will take a ride on that one and likely be convicted. If the letters are 3/4", the same: ride and convicted. If it is close, I take it as compliant.

I disagree with you Jim on notification. If they are clearly non-compliant, why tell them? Right, wrong, otherwise, it is just my view ;-)
I don't push the "white letters on glass" or because the english and spanish were the same color, thus failing the "contrasting colors" requirement, but I think the 1" letters requirement is extremely clear. If they meant 3/4" letters were close enough, they would have said something vague like "large letters." You MIGHT take a ride on 3/4" letters, but I'd bet $100k that you will not be convicted on 3/4" letters, therefore, I'll push that one.

Back to the original topic, I think the OP did okay, because he raised the issue, but DID NOT mention that their sign is non-compliant. He took himself out of this restaurant voluntarily, but did not mess it up for other CHL holders in case they still want to walk past the non-compliant sign. Perfect, IMHO.

Ask him to post "WHITES ONLY" and see what a stink people will raise over something so silly and meaningless as a little sign.

That is exactly part of why I called DPS, and that is exactly what the young lady I was talking to stated: That they didn't care about the size, or even the exact wording, as long as they made an effort at posting, that was good enough for them, and would I like the opportunity to be a test case. Now even if you were serious about the $100k, I don't think winning the bet would be worth it, and losing would be very expensive without the bet.

Hooters wings are below average, at least in my book, with the exception of their "Daytona style." I really like those...but they are quite pricey to start with and then you add the "Daytona style" upcharge to it. Last visit there I ended up with really scrawny wings...mentioned it to the manager, he replaced the scrawny wings with normal-sized wings. For wings I like Lazy Bones the best (although last time there it seemed like there wing size "shrunk"), as well as BWW and Wing Stop. Hey, everyone has different tastes.

To keep this on-topic - I haven't noticed signage at the Grapevine BWW location, but it's been awhile since I've been in there.

Buy the sauce and do them at home.

I like going there, but leave every time unhappy due to the poor service and small wings.

Their sauce is 3.50 a bottle and I can make 5 to 7 meals with it. I do only grilled chicken breasts at home, so I will live longer.

I go to the one in Lewisville and that one is not posted.

Quaker Steak has better wings than any of the chains around DFW, IMO.

Unfortuantely there arent any in Texas. :???:

LOL...you got to love it. This thread has turned into a rating thread for chicken wing joints. The mods should sticky this thread so we can keep up with the latest trends in chicken wings :biggrinjester: .

I haven't read the code in awhile, but I don't think the "contrasting colors" requirement refers to the colors of the English text vis-a-vie the Spanish text but rather the color of either text against the background. This ensures that the lettering stands out against the background and is clearly legible (ie. no slightly-off-white letters against a white sign).
