Anybody going?
Can you carry there?
The website says "no firearms".Is it like the fair? Or are weapons strictly prohibited?
I'm thinking about going tonight and was just curious.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN

Re: Real Texas Festival
Not familiar with it.
You mean http://www.realtexasfestival.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looks like it's put on by the city?
Dunno if city property
I see:
If it's city owned property, it shouldn't be 30.06 posted.
If it's privately owned property, it may or may not be 30.06 posted.

I see:
Bags and purses are subject to search upon entering the festival and re-entering the festival.

However, I dunno whose property it is on, so they may just be talking to non-licensees..What should I not bring?
No outside coolers will be allowed, as well as weapons of any kind (firearms, knives, martial arts weapons, etc.). Please don’t bring skateboards, scooters, inline skates, personal transport vehicles or other small, transport devices. Recording the concerts is prohibited and any form of illegal narcotics or contraband will not be allowed inside the festival gates.

Yeah that's what I found.
I guess that I could just call them.
Who exactly would I ask to speak with?

The City Mayor, City Attorney.
Ask if it is on city owned property.
That determines whether a 30.06 sign, if posted, is even enforceable.
Then if on city property, you might search this forum for "form letter" and send an e-mail to
mayor
City Secretary (This is often the person designated for service of process//giving notice to as city of something)
city council
city attorney
police chief
county sheriff
county constables
festival organizers
See:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=44637&p=540891&hili ... r+#p540891" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=41993&p=505789&hilit=Mayor#p505784" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The form letter helps assure (hopefully) communications that it shouldn't be posted, and that no CHL should be arrested, and doing so subjects the city to a Federal Civil Rights lawsuit ... so hopefully the festival; organizers/off duty police/security are aware beforehand and no issue should arise.

Re: Real Texas Festival
I usually send ONE E-mail, CC addresses to all ... or on your FAX put "CC:" to all others, so everyone knows that everyone else saw it too ... then it becomes "water cooler talk" and they consult the attorney and remove non-compliant signs or don't try to forbid entry to CHLs

Re: Real Texas Festival
I was wondering about this. I went to the Main Street Arts Festival in Fort Worth a couple of weeks ago. There were signs all around that said no pets, glass containers, or weapons.

Central Texas Hill Country here ... lots of Spring/Summer/Fall activitiessteve817 wrote:I was wondering about this. I went to the Main Street Arts Festival in Fort Worth a couple of weeks ago. There were signs all around that said no pets, glass containers, or weapons.
MayFest in a city Lakeside Park in Marble Falls
Aquaboom in Llano city park
Boat races in a city park in Marble Falls
Barbeque/chili cookoffs everywhere
Bluebonnet Festival around the Courthouse "Square" in Burnet
Lots of festivals/activities in Austin at Zilker (city) Park
Lots of events at city libtraries in the small towns etc ... US Congressman's staff was here early this week in one
lots of others.
Unlicensed people shouldn't bring weapons at all
Licensees shouldn't go inside the Courthouse armed
No one should bring Glass containers etc
Some places pets are allowed (Pet parade; weiner dog races etc)
Cities rules vary on ice chests, glass containers etc, but, they have no authority to usurp State law on Licensees being armed and where ... search "Preemption" or see the form letter

See the form letter link for the legal citations and the "preemption" law
Search found 5 matches: +preemption +"form letter"
