I've been somewhat disappointed at my Bushmaster's (.308 ORC, 16") accuracy and added good glass (Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10X56) and then a wonderful Gesile trigger and I was still all over the place at 100 yards (relatively speaking.) Then yesterday I was shooting the Bushy at my brother in law's newly set up range on his ranch and with a great rifle rest and discovered the accuracy problem. It wasn't the Bushy's fault - it was the operator's fault :oops: .

Happy, happy camper now with the Bushmaster. In fact I'm a bit amazed at how good she shoots at 100 yards - looks like we're a little over 1 MOA. Next project is to work on fixing the operator ;-) .

The attached pictures are target groups at 100, 200 and 300 yards. Shooting Privi Partizan Match ammo in 168 grain, hollow point boat tail (HPBT.) Really happy with this particular PPU ammo.

I'll bet it was the #1 error most people make... a death grip on the pistol grip. ;-)

That was my main one Saturday.

I am going to have to try that with my Sig 716 once i get my Nightforce SHV mounted.

Now I should rename my thread to My Bushy at 200, 300, 500 yards :thewave .

Spent a couple of hours this afternoon at the Hill Country Sports Shooting Center (Kerrville) on their long-range range (which is now open two weekends a month.) The rangemaster is a very friendly and helpful guy and since I was solo, he helped spot for me when I got to 500 yards. I was using the Strelok ballistic app on my Android phone and didn't quite have the parameters correct in it so my vertical holdover was off by half a mil which make a huge difference at 500 yards. Got that sorted out and I was on steel 90% of the time at 500 yards shooting PPU 168 grain HP BT match ammo. I shot a box of Hornady 178 grain match ammo and my holdover changed a little bit - my vertical holdover went down by about half a mil so instead of about a 3 holdover I went to about 2.5. Clearly the Hornady ammo had greater velocity (but of course more $$$.)

This is my first time shooting steel at long range and I'm hooked - what fun! :thumbs2:
