I posted this pic in my "Kirkpatrick Gun Leather" thread, but this S&W M&P 45 recently entered my carry rotation...
I have to say, this pistol carries very well for a full sized .45 ACP pistol. It is not as slim as a 1911, but it is
nearly as slim, and the interchangeable palm swells that come with the gun mean that I can make it fit my hand very well — unlike some other double stack .45s. The other thing I like about the M&P is that it is fully ambidextrous (I carry and shoot from the "sinister" side). It has an ambidextrous frame mounted safety, a reversible magazine release button, and an ambidextrous slide release lever. The only thing not ambidextrous on it is the take-down lever on the left side of the frame, but that doesn't really matter to me from the standpoint of carrying and shooting it. I also have a 5" Springfield Loaded which I also carry and like very much (picture below), but it weighs significantly more than the M&P, and the M&P holds 10+1 rounds to the Springfield's 8+1. So as much as I am a 1911 guy to the bone, I have to say that I am happy with the purchase of this M&P and have had no trouble integrating it into my carry routine.
